We have a TING device that monitors the house electricity. Last evening I got a message "brown out" voltage 106V. This morning I got a message "fire hazard, loose neutral". I had all of the house connections inside and in the meter base tightened so I know it was on the power co. side. The power co guys came and tested the power in the meter base box and told me we only had 100V. They tightened the connections at the pedestal. the guy told me we had a definite fire hazard and we were lucky.
I highly recommend the TING monitor. We got ours free through State Farm.

Going to call my State Farm agent and request a Ting device.

Thanks for the heads-up!

The house I am living in now, and have for the past 26 years, has lost the neutral in the underground service three times, the latest was just two weeks ago. You will notice the lights flickering usually just before the main event where lights in one room will be very bright and in another room, which will be on a different circuit and leg of the power, will be very dim. You can lose motors and compressors when the neutral goes bad but the first thing to go will be your microwave oven. Unplug that dude so you don't use it at the first sign of a problem.

The power company just digs it up and repairs it each time. I have tried to get them to replace the complete wiring section that has cause the trouble but they go the easy/cheap route each time.

Interesting.

Never heard of such a device. Will check with commercial electrician bro about it.

Thanks for the heads up.
