I didn't test the voltage. I was a hope and pray fix. I'll check with him tomorrow.

If banging on the headlight works then per the others, you have a bad socket/loose wire there. Repair/replace it.

Can't offer a suggestion, but will note that 90% of the time, when I see a vehicle with a light out, it's a Chevy/GM. Head/tail/whatever light. GM might have hired all those Lucas "Princes of Darkness" engineers from England.

For what it is worth, I have seen a bulb with a broken filament in it have the loose end of the filament "bounce around" making random connection between the ends in the bulb. Hard to diagnose. Bulb finally fails completely.

A broken bulb filament can weld itself back together and burn for a while before it breaks again. Pounding on the headlight shakes the ends of the break back together on occasion so they can join up for a while. Very hard to diagnose sometimes!
