I sent a rifle CT to Georgia

It took over 20 days
Spent 2 weeks in California
And arrived with the receiver and barrel missing
They still haven’t paid the insurance.

Gee, I've mailed several packages USPS in the past month, including a Stukey's shooting bench, a custom 6mm-06 rifle, and a Zeiss camera made in the 1930s. All showed up either right on the predicted time, or earlier--and at various places around the U.S.

Oh, and several hundred packages of books from www.riflesandrecipes.com.

Which is why I tend to believe that many "problems" with USPS arises from local P.Os. Mine has been very reliable for a couple decades now--but it ain't in a big city....

I sent a postal money order from Ohio to Mississippi 15 days ago and still hasn’t made it there.
I used a USPS envelope and added tracking/signature. No one seems to know where it is at. And they tell me I’ll probably have to wait 60 days to be reimbursed my money from the time I filed the claim. The woman at my post office said I should wait to file the claim because it could take up to 30 days for my envelope to get to the destination. I told her I’m not waiting 30 days, start the claim.
Now I have a lost package coming from midway’s sure post. UPS is saying they delivered it to my local post office and my local post office is saying it wasn’t on the pallet.
Midway says I have to wait 7 days from the time I notified them before they will reimburse me.
I sent a check to replace my above money order fiasco the other day. I used UPS and a small padded envelope, cost me $14. It’s been sitting in Indiana for 2 days because of mechanical problems.
And don’t even get me started about FED EX past experiences.

It makes me feel better to see all of you guys suffering too & that I'm not alone. I was starting to take my last shipment personally until I found out USPS hates everyone equally. I shipped on a Monday 04/22. It sat in town for four days during the business week before finally being put on a truck on Friday 04/26. It's been "In Transit to the Next Facility" for 7 days now with no additional scans. Since this particular delivery is going to a small town in northern Montana not far from the Canadian border, I'm just going to readjust my expectations and be thrilled if it arrives any time before July... 🤬

The USPS priority is to spy on us, delivery of mail/packages is way down on the list of tasks to accomplish.

Think.
It's not illegal, yet.

I shipped a $3500.00 rifle on 4/26/24 by “Registered Mail”
to Pennsylvania. It left Eastern,SD and was scanned in
Minneapolis, MN. It arrived in San Jose, CA on 4/29/24
and has been sitting there since.
Maybe they need a compass?

I sent payment in a USPS priority envelop with tracking on 1/23. It arrived on 2/12. 2-3 day delivery took 20.

I had a chambered pre-fit barrel mailed to me USPS priority couple of months ago. Tracking showed it as label printed, awaiting item, until I got home one evening and saw it sitting on the porch.

I mailed an item USPS priority earlier this week. I have an item ordered coming USPS priority. For both of those tracking numbers, when entered on USPS tracking page, the page will never load after either is entered.

Very frustrating. I had great service from USPS for a lot of years but the last year has been terrible.

9 days later and I'm still waiting for the money order that a reputable member here on the 'Fire mailed to me from only 2-1/2 states away.

Maybe too simple....thinking older workers are retiring, younger and inexperienced workers either don't care about their responsibilities or are having trouble learning how the system works, so instead of asking how, they just throw the item into a bag and wait until quitting time. Locally we have a couple nice folks that seem to care and can answer your questions.

A couple of months ago, I had my bank send a cashiers check to a seller in Texas. I sent him a screenshot of the confirmation. 16 days later, it still hadn't arrived so I had to go through all of the hassle of getting that canceled & paying by another method. Fortunately, he was very understanding that it wasn't my fault. Several days later the check finally arrived after about three weeks so he just tore it up. I think we might have to revert to the pony express or carrier pigeons to start getting better delivery times.

I must be lucky. I'm here in rural New Mexico, 6 miles north of the Mexican border where you might expect the USPS system to be iffy (everything else is!!). I've shipped over 100 packages in the past year via USPS. Never had even one take longer than a day or two past the expected delivery date. Also received many packages, payments, etc through USPS without a problem. This is to and from states all over the map, including a few to and from AK. I usually send things Ground Advantage, but Priority works also (not much faster by the way). Like I said, I must be lucky. Go figure.

The Informed Delivery app shows the ineptness they used to be able to hide.
Ok top of their uselessness.... If you try to go up the food chain to hold them accountable all correspondence get routed back to the local postmaster.
The entire problem is there is absolutely no accountability at any level.

Here's the problem....usps like any other is a company. Many think it's a government entity. It is not. Depending on where you live usps delivers every amazon package under 70 lbs. Yet amazon gives you free shipping. The usps worker is getting absolutely fu$$ed. The usps was and still is not manned to account for the huge online shopping influx. Their staffing has not increased.

I don't know the reason, but it's SOP for FedEx to send everything next or second day air to Memphis.

Have you tried searching the tracking number with whichever search engine you use? More often than not I get a blank page too when tracking on usps.com lately but a search engine seems to at least show something.

I haven't. Both of those now show up. I tried it directly from USPS sight and from an emailed link. If it happens again I'll give that a try. Thanks!

This is universal it doesn’t matter. Once the package or mailer goes to the distribution center it’s a crap shoot. Sent PMO to California. Days later it was in HAWAII, then to GUAM, back to Hawaii, then to Californian. Rinse and repeat, on and on.
