Worked with a gent once who was the proverbial "omnivore", but had no interest in hunting....or fishing. His "outdoors" was his yard and the grocery store provided any nutritional needs. Fish, meat or fowl, his motto was, "It's cheaper at the grocery store."
Another fellow I hunted with used to say, "If you're hungry, go to the grocery store!"
At my age, I head to the grocery store much more often than I head afield and my freezer no longer has stocked with fish and game. Yes, I still hunt and fish, just not as much anymore! ☹️ "Going" hunting or fishing is much more important than a kill or a catch.

I smile and say "well like every activity, hunting or fishing is not for everyone" They don't have to like it any more then I have to like penuckle or football.
It's a very small minded, insecure and stupid individual that needs to feel insulted that someone else doesn't agree with him on the things or activities they like. Their "feelings" are about forcing others to like what they like and dislike what they dislike because not doing so proves they may not be in charge of the subject and be thought of as a god in their wisdom.
Unfortunately we see that all the time here on the Fire .

Yep, I just smile and say it’s not for everyone. Hey, do you like crab? (Most people do.) I tell you what, you haven’t had crab until you’ve had fresh crab, like steamed the same day he came out of the ocean. Do you like salmon? (Same story.) Cooked the same day it was caught, nothing compares. But hey, farm raised and store bought is better than nothing, right? I mean, I won’t eat it, but it’s an option if you don’t fish. P

Someone you meet for the first time tells you they don't like hunting or fishing? This has never happened to me.

As long as they aren’t opposed to ME hunting and fishing, we can get along. At an appropriate time I can occasionally bring up conservation and restoration efforts, especially with regard to deer and turkeys in Mississippi.
If they complain about hitting a deer or almost hitting a deer, I can tell them that in the early 20th century there were no deer to speak of in the state. Same thing with turkeys. Most people have no idea ….

Just imagine the havoc it would create if everybody hunted and fished. I'm glad they don't

P Never had salmon, except as a kid. Mom bought the canned stuff and made patties. It was OK, but nothing special. THEN....a friend invited me to go on a deep sea fishing trip to Kodiak, AK!!!! Okay, it had been processed and frozen, but plenty doggone good! The grilled salmon is okay, if it's been marinated. I have to remove all the fat on the skin side of the filets. It's just too fishy tasting for me! 😝 I always grilled the salmon and we always grilled more than we could eat. Leftovers were turned into patties the next day! WOW! 😋 ....and smoked salmon! I've watched on TV how Gordon Ramsay cooks salmon. These fancy chef's want salmon "pink" (raw?) on the inside. Sorry, too fishy tasting for me!!! Ramsay also fries salmon skin side down, claiming the crispy skin is delicious!!😝 I'd rather suck a pile of fish guts!! I understand that all those omega-3 fatty acids that are considered super healthy are contained in the fish fat. I've tried! I just can't eat it! One more question to you salmon aficionados! Have you ever experienced what's called "ivory" salmon? In the rare Chinook salmon, the fish's body can't process the color in their diet. The salmon flesh is almost white! Not only that, it is a bit more oily than normal "pink" salmon. Highly sought after by real salmon freaks! Edit: I can't think of a single wild game, fish or fowl that doesn't taste better "fresh"!

I believe the light colored chinook are called Tule salmon or Chinook Tule. See one every once in a while. I prefer red or sockeye, whichever you want to call them! They eat way better on my taste buds.
