My wife's, growing up, neighbor had an antique shop. The father passed last year, and they had an estate sale the past two week ends. I made a deal for a friend of mine to buy a Kubota FEL from them for $12,000. I was looking at the last few personal items left in the house. I saw this book case that just screamed GUN CABINET. They wanted $250 for it, but let me have it for $100, and a carved chair they were asking $200 for, for $100, for selling their tractor for them. The book case has some cool features I've never seen before. The case is in three pieces. The two end pieces are deeper than the center, and they all slide together like puzzle pieces. Then the shelf supports are a "sawtooth", "Dove Tail", that matching slats sit in. The cases are Oak, but I'm not sure what the doors are? They look like fancy figured Walnut, and they are solid pieces of wood, not appliqués? All three pieces have locks that one key fits, and they all work. Pics are poor, in my garage, and the pieces don't slide together tight because my cousin flipped out when I said I was going to leave them on the concrete overnight. They are sitting on uneven pieces of carpet and card board.
I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

Since the center piece is shallower than the other two, does it have a hidden compartment in the back? really cool piece of furniture.

Repurpose as gun cabinets? Sure. But I would use them as book cases too.

That's a great piece of furniture Joe, it should be simple to make your rifle racks work with the notched shelf hangers, (..,so Gary can still use it for bookshelves after you're gone..),
Those brackets and the hardware tell the tale about how old that case is. It's also great that the glass survived intact!

No, the center is physically shallower, so it sits back an inch or so. That's where it goes together like a puzzle piece

Solid primary and secondary woods, hand cut dovetail joinery, working antique lock hardware and key, vintage looking glass? For 100 bucks? You got bamboozled!
Very nice, Joe

Joe, bet you can find a couple LED push lights to velcro inside on the top. Always better with a bit of light. My $100 china hutch turned gun cabinet...

Very nice, Joe I know! I thought they should have given it to me because I made a $12,000 sale for them. They did give me some other stuff free. Coolers, logging chains, hand tools. That was probably stuff that wouldn't fit on the trailer going to the dump.

I might have walked by it just thinking how cool it was, if it wasn't for this pic! I finally got it back from the wife.. it stored fabric/sewing supplies for several years. Sigh... But, happy wife.. happy life. Much better now. Added the chain to keep curious fingers out.

I demo'd a law library for a big commercial construction job I had and took home 10 cabinets made by Broyhill that were inset in the wall. I removed the center shelves on two of them and cut holes for the barrels in the top shelf and lined them with green felt. Instant man cave upgrade.
