That's about how many people died in the entirety of WWII--civilians and troops combined--from the Pacific to Europe. Stalin killed a few million Ukrainians with a man-made famine, but the population of the USSR during the beginning of WWII was around 200M. I can't imagine any plausible explanation for how Stalin killed 62M people. Around 42 million Soviets--military and civilians--died during WWII. He's arguably not responsible for all of that--given that the Krauts did most of that. But, even if you blame all of that on Stalin, which is farcical, he also did that and killed another 20 million?
