When I worked as a nightshift manager for a large supermarket chain, there was a pretty, petite blond driver who delivered rolls to our store nightly.
I asked if she was concerned about her safety.
She discretely lifted her shirt to reveal a snubby revolver in an iwb holster. Said her boyfriend was a State Trooper, and he made sure she knew how to take care of herself.

I personally know a UPS driver who routinely carries while on the job. The calculation is saving your life from a deadly threat vs being fired. Only a fool would sacrifice the former to prevent the latter, says he.

I worked at a stop and rob (7/11) back around late1965. Staring down the business end of a 1911 and being unarmed was not a fun experience. Guess I got lucky but I figured I'd best quit as the next robber may not be so incline to let me keep breathing. 7/11's policy was no guns and just give them the money. I saw in the paper a bit later the man that replaced me did not survive the robbery.
