350 on the low end to maybe $550-600 for a very nice one . Assuming a standard 22" and decent shape and internals aren't wore out . Fwiw it's been one on the classifieds here with a decent scope for a little over 400. Still available I believe

For me, it always seemed a 'step up' from a sporting semi-auto versus either the pump in Remington or the lever in Winchester, The Winchester Model 100 had problems functioning. Not sure about the 740, but give me a 760 any day as well as a Model 88 for that matter! Have both in .308 Win & all good! I think the Savages semi-autos of decades earlier design were more reliable, but that long recoil Browning system was the successful "contraption"! All the barrel needed was an external spring & I'd have felt like I was firing a Bofors! smile
Just an admitted 'old man' take here!
