Longshot is sending my 200 XTP's at 1150. I plan on trying it with MBW coated 200 grainers.
MBW recommends the gas checked for hunting and the coated for targets. They are both 22 brinnel so I wonder why the recommendation.

I'm not sure why they state that unless it's to sell more of the expensive WFN GC projectiles. Frankly I've been running the coated bullets around 1,200 fps and that works for me!
The 200 GC bullets are fine, just don't see a need to pay more for the same performance.
Loading mine with Longshot and getting excellent accuracy!

I would imagine the gas checked bullets are designed for killing stuff at high 10mm velocities, and the plain based coated bullets for lower velocity practice rounds. That's the theory anyway, if your running the practice bullets at 1200 & like the results then your definitely $$ ahead.

Many years ago I did a ton of work developing loads with hardcast in the 10mm. 800X was the best of everything at the time, including all those mentioned above (I think AA #9 was second, but couldn't beat 800X). Not positive, but fairly sure Mike McNett started Double Tap ammo with hot 10mm hardcast using the same 800X load.

41 In todays world, at handgun velocities, it seems gas checks are irrelevant with better knowledge of bullet fitment, coatings, and projectiles themselves. All of the bullets I cast for my 357, 44, and 45 caliber guns are powder coated and I have zero problems whatsoever! Frog----OUT!

They do friend, they do! It was an easy choice for me as I never had a lubrisizer so it made it so much easier to adopt powder coating to my needs. A benefit to powder coating is that once you have specific loads developed for a certain cartridge, say Heavy Bear Loads for a .45 Colt, you can select a special color to use for those only and then with just a quick glance you can verify what loads you have in the gun.
In my case, I use one specific color for ALL the Heavy Bear Loads across all my cartridges of different calibers. That way, whenever I head into the mountains for a day trip or longer, I can check the loads in my handgun of choice and see what it's loaded with.
Good Luck!

That was easy. 6" barrel in Glock 20
10 mm MBW coated 200 grain bullet, CCI 300, Lax brass
7 .5 - 1228, 1227, 1215 8.0 - 1230, 1225, 1269
I will do a bunch up at 7.5 and try them at targets next.
Hope this helps the OP too.

They do look pretty.
Just this morning l shot some of the hardcast Rim Rock 200 grain pills load as follows
200 grain lead 11.3 #9 WLP Starline brass
Got 1150 fps with my all stock Glock 20. Accuracy was good & recoil quite manageable.
