Has anyone looked at the new vanguard obsidian rifles yet? Trying to figure out the difference between them and a reg. Vanguard.

Looks like for only $550 you too can be a proud owner of a Weatherby Vanguard. And your choice of color, as long as it's black.

It's you and the bullet, and all the rest is secondary.

Looks just like the ones they used to sell at Walmart. Stock is similar to the Griptonite, but maybe lacking the soft inserts. I bought one of those for $250, then turned around and sold it unfired as I already had a .243. Did the same with a 6CM, basically just a economic null with no money made or lost. Bargains are hard to pass up, even if you don’t need them. I may have finally learned my lesson about those, maybe…

Those are pretty heavy and it probably makes more sense to begin with a lighter version if that matters to you.

What fresh Hell is this?

They do have the soft grip inserts. I just picked one up a couple weeks ago for around 480 bucks. Haven't fired it yet but it seems good so far.
Rifle could lose a half pound or so and the trigger is good but a bit heavy. Will have to adjust it later.

So little time, make the best of what you have.

Not a bad starting point on the price.

Put one of the Stockey's carbon fiber stocks on a Howa 1500 barreled action and it becomes a totally different rifle.
