I didn't forget the Swift I purposely didn't include it. The Barnes is a lead free mono metal, the Nosler is mentioned alot in the above posts and they make a lead free mono metal the Etip, which isn't mentioned..I was curious if anyone had experience with it on big bears. So sorry, I guess the Aframe is your favorite and I hurt your feelers.

Curious.. The majority of the posts here recommend Barnes or Nosler's but no mention of the Nosler Etip..Does anyone have any experience with it in regards to these bears? Did'nt click the link, did ya. Typical cheechako move that. Ya)all might want to tone the ego down a piece. Hate to hear ya had a stroke or sumpt-in

The 200 grain Nosler Partition worked great for me on a brown bear in Alaska, and many others consider it a superb choice. It shoots pretty flat, too. I have seen these used on brown bears twice. I would not hesitate to use them.

Have mentioned this before, but how much difference in groups makes a realistic difference in killing a "big bear," even at ranges beyond 100 yards?
I know custom riflesmith D'Arcy Echols very well, and years ago during one of our many conversations (both FTF and phone) he mentioned a customer who'd just ordered a .458 Lott for an upcoming elephant hunt. The customer "demanded" that both softs and solids group 3 shots into 1/2" at 100 yards--into the same group.
D'Arcy phoned me that day, and instead of starting with hello, he said: "Just how f------ small are elephants these days?" Agreed: A couple of things: Iāve shot a boat load of Remington CLās over the years. Iāve had great luck with them. (I have not shot at any big bears with them though.) I believe the design of CLās has changed a bit over the years. I donāt know if that means they are better at penetration or not. I wonder about deep penetration with the newer ILās. I used to be a big fan of 180 grain Partitions until I tried 200 gran partitions. Even with the 30-06 I prefer 200 grain over the 180ās. I mentioned the accuracy I got with 220 partitions in my 300 - agreed accuracy is not a big issue. But my 300 likes them. Iām thinking more bullet weight is better. I donāt think laser like flat shooting is as important. I think with a 30 caliber rifle, a 220 grain partition from a 300 Win Mag would be just about as good as it gets.

Iāve got a load with 180 gr ABāa behind 81 gr of H1000 in my .300 WM getting 3150 and another running 180 Barnes TTSX and Magnum for 3060 fps. Both impact within an inch of each other, so I take what I feel like that day.
