I had one of these about 20 years ago and traded it to a friend. I regretted ever since and tried to buy it back several times and he wouldn't turn loose of it. Today he sends me a message wanting to know if I'm still interested in it. Of course I am but don't know what it's worth and want to offer him a fair price for it. I have not seen it since we traded. It was in really good shape and I assume it still is as he didn't shoot it but a couple times.

I'm thinking of offering him $400. Does that sound like a good offer?

Synthetic stock or laminate? 917vs listings on gunbroker show both so I wasn't sure. Either way I'd think that's more than fair. The laminate seems to sell for a bit more , the synthetics were around the $300 range

It has the laminate stock, sorry I forgot to add that. There was a couple completed listings on GunBroker, one sold for $425 and the other didn't sell at $500. I could probably get the gun for less than $400 but he's a good friend and I don't want to cut him short so I thought that would be fair.

Good. Like I said before. That is a fair market price.

It should be a really accurate little gun. All my Marlin 17s were. wink
