I read about this on another forum and it is worth posting here:
FYI – we have just received the following message from Vista Outdoors (the parent company of Alliant Powders): “Due to the worldwide shortage of nitrocellulose, the Vista Outdoor supply agreement for the sale of Alliant Powder canisters has been suspended for an unknown period. At this time, we have no timeline for the fulfillment and will be canceling outstanding Alliant orders in our system. Representatives will provide updates and coordinate new orders based on availability.” We have heard mixed messages from various powder suppliers about the availability of nitrocellulose, and therefore powder, over the past several months. This is one Manufacturer’s analysis of the situation. We are posting this so you can have all the information we have and draw whatever conclusions are right for you.

Oh boy... Gonna be a mess.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

So the Hodgdon position gets stronger.
What else is there? Vihtavuori and Shooters World? More interesting loading days ahead.
Any word from any of the other manufacturers?
Thanks for posting SW.

Guessing most most nitrocellulose products will dry up if the raw material isnt available. Might not be a strong position for anyone in the civilian market. Gotta save Ukraine at all costs even if it kills them all.

Thanks for posting SW. How so? The makers of the powders they sell depend on the availability of nitrocellulose too. Once the stockpiles of that disappear, everyone is screwed. Won’t be long before governments declare it as “essential war material” or whatever term they use. Might get very tight for recreational shooters; already is for some I guess. This is where I usually say I already have all I need, but this time I’ll refrain from that…..
What fresh Hell is this?

Might have to find me a source of sulfur .
Pretty sure other ingredients won't be hard to find/make around here.

I checked out last week. H224, which I use in my.223 is $45, 4350 is $75! Lucky I bought a big can a while back. I may be somewhat of a hoarder, but nowadays you have to be. Still can’t buy LR Primers though but small rifle are around most places. But for hunting and reasonable target practice, I Can cinch up my belt a little, but I’ll survive. I still believe this shortage stuff is orchestrated by the government. They’ve been manipulating everything else! They want us under control, and they’re doing it incrementally. Reon

The Wall Street Journal published an article back in March regarding the worldwide shortage of nitrocellulose.
I can't quite figure why there has been almost no availability of Alliant powders while that Hodgdon and Shooters World supplies have increased somewhat.
It's always wise to carry extra water in the desert.

The Chinese are opportunists.
How would you feel if a Chinese company started exporting gunpowder to the USA for consumer use?
Would you buy Chinese gunpowder? Would you trust the quality (safety and consistency) of Chinese gunpowder?
