I have a Kimber 84L Classic that is wonderfully accurate. I noticed that it particularly was accurate/easy to find an accurate load with anything 110gr! Asking around, here in Utah seems alot of even older 270 users loved the 110 Sierra PH. They used anything 130 on elk. How many of you 270 shooters like the 110s for deer/antelope? What's your favorite load?

My family members have taken 40-50 whitetails with the old lead core spire point 110-grain bullets out of a Model 54 Winchester. If I recall correctly, they were using IMR 4320 and getting excellent groups.

The 110 TTSX/110 Vmax combo has worked great for a big game/varmint setup, with both shooting to point of aim and exhibiting similar flight patterns. Barnes has load data for the 110s with Ramshot Hunter at over 3500 fps, which works great when you're looking for 257 Weatherby performance!

Mr Goat- My Kimber uses that Barnes Hunter load with those particular bullets too! I use the Vmax for plinking/coyote "splitting" ( lengthwise shots open them up like a suitcase! ha) So far, I haven't used the 270/110 TTSX (or Hammer) but I did use the first bunch of 100 TSX in a 257 Wby on Exotics in Texas...lightning bolt! I may just try the 110 Hammer Hunter instead of the TTSX and see what it does. I had sent all my 270 stuff with the rifle to my SIL's for my Grand-daughter to use/sell for school. She has no interest in shooting, he has her schooling planned out, so I'm just making memories with it when I kick the bucket some day...but not today! lol He just retired from the Marine Corp Reserves (28yrs) and his shooting/hunting stuff is all disorganized and I'm not going to bother him right now. He has enough on his plate with his work and my daughters not well. So I'm taking my time. I did find a bunch of once fired Remington 270 cases so will start over with them.

I knew a guy in PENN who used 110s in his 270 WIN for ground hogs and crows.

When the only rifle I owned was a 270, I loaded 110’s over IMR 4350 for groundhogs and 130’s for deer.

For Boy Scouts over the years, getting one inherited from a family member.
Let the kids load a Sierra 110 SP, in front of 30 grains of 4198.
Within 200 to 250 yds, don't recall a good shot placement that failed to drop the deer on the spot.

I can’t recall any testing beyond 2700 for those.

110 VMaxes have worked quite well for me while shooting Roe Deer and Chamois. I loaded them with Big Game at 3,100 fps even.

Mr. Knight, It's great to hear of your experiences! I'd be curious to hear how the 110 Hammer Hunters perform, if you have a chance to use them.

That 110 in a 270 win is awesome. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot that bullet as my primary deer/antelope buster. Just make it a plain ol spire point. You'll forget the 25-06 ever existed. Had to say it.

I helped a buddy work up a load for 270Win 110TTSX W/Hunter and his 22" Ruger 77 MK II shot very well @ 3350fps so we quit. Hunter is also a great powder in the 270Win for 130 TTSX and 140 TSX. I love being able to run prepped brass through the Dillon 550 and Hunter meters very well through the Dillon Powder Measurer.

I had shot up all the 110 TTSX I had awhile back. I used Nosler brass and some Winchester brass for some 150gr Nosler BT I had. I like the Hammers in other calibers that I have tried. I want to stick with a 110 for the flat trajectory and want a Mono in that weight for deer/antelope and as a spare rifle for cow elk. I like to take 2 rifles when I go off on a hunt. In years past, I have used the 240 Wby, 25-06 and 257Wby all with 90-100gr monos and was really pleased how well they killed game. 3300-3500 makes for a stretched string trajectory, not to mention a great killing speed with monos.
