For smaller ones, like Forn 8N, little Kabota's, I feel sure any good deer round would work. Now when you get up to the big John Deeres, etc. your going to need something much lager. Just like elephant, I think a 375 H&H would be the smallest I would be comfortable with. I am sure there are many that will come along and argue, but this is my thoughts on best tractor rifle.................(grin)
Some mornings, it just does not feel worth it to chew through the straps!~

Compact bolt action. Short barrel and shorter LOP to save OAL. But, they are still plenty accurate to shoot a critter at 100 yards or more.

And I was gonna ask…..how big is the tractor! 😜 😂 memtb Exactly. Why would you shoot a tractor?
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

And I was gonna ask…..how big is the tractor! 😜 😂 memtb Exactly. Why would you shoot a tractor? Perhaps poor performance! 😉 Some have shot their dogs for simply that! 🤔 But, I was merely answering the question as asked! 😄 Of course, it was my mistake to answer with a cartridge response rather than a rifle response! An irrational, impulsive answer! ☹️ memtb

Kimber Hunter 243 with fixed 6x36. The 55gr varmageddon works great for coyotes and woodchucks.

Bought Single Six in 22 LR/22 Mag. Have carried it in a holster/belt over the back of the seat for years. Mostly to shoot at groundhogs. I won a Ruger Precision Rimfire in 17 HMR, I'm thinking that has some potential as a tractor gun.

I spend quite a bit of time in a tractor, several hundred hours per year. Been all over the map on whats ideal. Carried 17hmr-308 and most everything in between. Always carry two in tractor .410 single shot shorty for close up, snakes , coons, possums, etc and have settled on 243- or 264 for centerfire. Couple three compact bolt rifles in rotation. 75 gr vmax, 108 eldm, 147eldm Rifle changes along with seasons Shotgun stays same

Works great on the John Deer lawn tractor..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
