The SWFA super sniper 10x are still just 300 dollars. I have a friend who has one glued to his 338 Lapua with great results.

With 120moa internals and positive tracking... who cares if the glass ain't so perfect.

I think I'll get me one afore they discontinue them or raise the price!

I take it the scope is a fixed magnification 10X ? Make alot more sense on that class of rifle than most of the oversized variables than many use. E

I was thinking of trying the SS 10x42 on a 223 varmint rifle. I hear very good things about all aspects except optic quality, which is said to be decent.

I had to see what they were all about for myself, after hearing mostly good things, and a few complaints.

I picked up a used SS16X not too long ago for $225 delivered. No regrets. It ain't the sexiest thing going, but it works as good as my Leupys. Has 95 moa internal, tracks perfectly, and the rear focus is far more ergonomic than the side-focus, for a southpaw like me. Being free of protrusions over the loading/ejection port is nice too.

Most of the jeering is from shooters who've never driven one.

I put a 10x on my wife's AR. Like Shane said it works and well.
Not sorry one bit and no excuses. Buy a new or used one, put it though its paces and then decide.

TASCO is just a word, I believe the company folded up a few years ago. While Tasco has an earned reputation for trash optics, you need to consider that the original design spec of the Super Sniper was to meet military contract, and built to NATO specifications. A long way of saying, it's not an S&B nor close, but it's also not the same as a Tasco World Class.

SWFA owns the rights to the scope, and has them produced to a specification. Bushnell does warranty service, and from accounts I've heard they have repaired or replaced as necessary, without a lot of BS.

They are inexpensive, new or used, hold their value well on resale, are serviceable, durable, and have acceptable warranty service. Not sure you how you can get more for less.

I have two 10x rear focus Super Snipers mounted on a 7mag and .300 win on Senderos, one has a custom Kenton Industries top turret, they are worth the money to me, these rifle/scope combos really perform without a whole lotta cash,, the scopes tracking seems to be very consistant, I once read Super Snipers were made by Hakko in Japan, not sure, have fun with yours

I kind of like to think that scopes are a sighting device and an optic device. It is nice to have both be great but I would rather have a scope that tracks perfectly and is super tough and not the best optically that the opposite.

I agree. It's a sighting device, not a sightseeing device.

I do like my MK4 Leupolds, but I honestly can't see the difference in optical quality.

I understand they were made in Tasco's custom shop and, as Shane says, to mil-specs. The marines did consider them seriously at one time.
The one that I handled sure looked good. My local custom gun maker says the customers that have used them, as well as himself, found nothing to compalin about.
Hmm.... Maybe I should buy one.... E

Nope, not any more-- They are made by Hakko, same company that makes Nightforce.
Hakko is a Jap optics lab that makes low to high end optics to the clients specifications.

A buddy has a 10x on top of his .308 DPMS and it sure looks and drives nice. Ergonomics, optics, and price all seemed pretty good to me. Not sure if his is Tasco or Hakko made though.
