Hi all havn't posted befor, been reading the foroums for the last few years and have gotten a lot of good info. Some time last week there was a post or a repost that showed a test of qiut a few 6.5 mm bullits I was on my luch and only took a quick look at it and now I can't find it again. I load for 260, 6.5 Rem.Mag 6.5x55 (two) and 6.5x06 plus a lot of other cal. Have done a lot of load develomnet for velocity and acuuracy but not termanal preformance look like some very good info. with photos.

Have been loading for the 6.5 Rem. for 25 years now tried 50 or more diffrent loads but keep comming back to the old Hornady 129gr sp.and H4831sc for every thing from ground squrrils to mule deer.As I have gotten older the Kimber 260 is a lot nicer to pack into the nothern Ca. hills so have been looking for an few good loads for it (have a few but it's fun to keep trieing)
thanks much for the help.

If you go to the thread titled Lapua and Naturalis bullets in the Ask the Gunwriters forum there is a link to the tests done by BCsteve that he provided there. I just bumped it up for you. Welcome by the way.

A load that I have had great success with is 47 grains of RL 19 and 125 grain partition, make sure you work up to this load but it has been fine in my rifle for pressure and is very accuarate, this load of RL 19 seems to come up as a preferred load quite often. For a heavy bullet load VV N-560 with a 140 partition has been accuarate and fast for me, but I have not any feed back from any one else using this load.

I buy 120 gr Remington bullets in boxes of 500 from Midway. Then my son and I can shoot our twin Ruger 77 MK II all weather 260's as much as we like. I load them to about 2850 with H414 or H4350.

The 120 gr ballistic tips are a bit more accurate and we use them for serious stuff.

Thanks gerry, thats the thread I was looking for. My Kimber dosent shoot the Rem. CL very well so far the two best bullits have been 120 gr Speer and 120 Sierra both flat base . The 125gr Nosler Par will shoot a littel over an in. at 2800 fps that my goto load for now for deer. The two sweeds love the 140gr CL there both over 100 years old and I havn,t found a load yet that has shoot less than 1.25 in. both were restocked and set up for scopes long before I got them.

Several years back I did quite a bit of testing with my Swede. Didn't do a lot of powders because it really seemed to like the 4831. I never did get any bullets lighter than 140 to shoot as good as the 140's. Don't know if was the duiffernt twist rate of those old swedes, or the long throat.

My 1899 vintage Carl Gustafes Sweede wtih it's barrel cut to 23in. and a 6x cheap BSA scope will regular put five 129 gr Hornady sp flat base into a 1 inch or less groupe using eather AA4350 or R19 (the only powders I've used so far)@2700+. Havn't killed any thing with it yet but with the same bullit in my 6.5 Rem. mag @ 3100 has taken quit a few Cal. Black tailed dear and one Nev. Mulie buck ,all one shot kills not all DRT but didn't go far. The best part is I have less than $180.00 invested in that Sweede .Got to love the old stuff!
