so I'm not sure just how to ask this question. Does anyone here use the river cane that the Indians used to make their primitive archery equipment? The reason I ask is there is lots of it in this area and if anybody needed some I could help them get it. Not trying to make a buck....just help.

Mickey, I've used river cane and several bamboo species ( usually footed) for both arrows and atlatl darts over the years.
Usually requires bundling and drying and heat straightening, but makes a good lighter weight arrow.
I experimented with the material mostly in conjunction with flint knapping and replication of primitive weapons..
You should see what an atlatl does with a 1300 grain flint tipped 7 foot dart..:)

Thanks, Jim. I don't know that I'll work all that hard at finding somebody who could use some. I just thought if there was somebody around the 'fire that wanted some I'd get a bunch of it up and send to them. I have a good friend who does a lot of knapping and he's mentioned the primitive minded folk have rendezvous and they usually will buy all you carry there but I was gonna do a favor to somebody who could use it. I see patches of it along some roads down here that are pretty good sized patches.
