Listed below is verbage from "Dakota" a publication put out by the people that build
Dakota rifles.

We have some very demanding field testers.
For over 10 years, the game rangers in South Africa's Kruger Park have used Schmidt & Bender scopes on their heavy caliber rifles during culling operations...shooting more rounds at dangerous game in one day than most safari hunters will shoot in a lifetime. Over 100 Schmidt & Bender scope have been subjected to this pounding for over a decade. Yet to date, not a single one has malfunctioned. Don't you deserve a scope so
good you can trust it to your life?
Lets see now, 10 years and they shoot more rounds out of HEAVY recoiling rifles in one
DAY than most safari hunters shoot in a lifetime. Sounds like a rugged, dependable
scope to me - not ONE malfunction in 10 years with 100 scopes - amazing.
Don

Don,
That is certainly an outstanding record, I would find it hard to believe any brand of scope held up to that abuse. I would think that asside from the heavy recoiling rifles, that the way the guns are banged around in the trucks would be much more abusive.
After re-reading the text, I wonder if there is a difference between a malfunction and failure?

What "Don Knows" hasn't told you is these words are from a paid for ad by "Schmidt & Bender" that appers in a Dakota arms mailer. The mailer if full of ads, and these are NOT the words of the people that build Dakota rifles.
I don't have a problem with Dons passion for euro optics, but he is clearly trying to imply that Dakota arms is indorseing S & B and that is not the case

16446: To Don Knows
08/07/01-11:48 AM Posted by: james ruby
Don
I understand your dislike of Leupold as everyday I read this site in optics it seems that you have indicated that Leupold sucks. I can appreciate your point of view though dont agree with it.
The question I have for you is this; Which european scope manufacture will provide a 3X9X40 for under three hundred dollars that will be repaired for the life of the scope for free regardless of the problem and have the scope returned to the sender within two weeks.
Provide this info and I will buy a european scope and try it out for myself. However if you can't then you cant really compete against Leupold, in my opinion.
Respectfully
James ruby
