I received this email after I posted a response to this guy's plea for donation of shotguns for his police department.

I am very aware of what guns sell for as I am I type 1 FFL. I also write and apply for grants for our depaertmrnt. As I stated before WE LIVE IN A MUNICIPALITY THAT COLLECTS NO TAXES. There is a lot of info out there about police weapons and tactics. Rifles are a huge liability, unless you use frangible ammo, which in itself is extremely expensive. Ruger, Colt, Bushmaster and others don't give away their guns.

AS I SAID - I AM PERSONALLY BUYING GUNS TO PROVIDE TO MY FELLOW OFFICERS, BECAUSE THERE IS NO MONEY TO BUY THEM NEW GUNS.

A fellow officer from NH is selling me 2 of his old guns for $65 each, He worked in a municipalty much like mine and he understands the problem. When you have $0 to spend things are different.

"Police shotguns are relatively cheap. The Mossberg 500s are about $200 new. Hard to believe that you can't get the money to buy them. Talk to the Feds or State gov. they probably could provide weapons or money."
IF YOU HAVE AN EXTRA 600 BUCKS LAYING AROUND THAT YOU CAN DONATE SO THAT I CAN PICK UP 3 NEW MOSSY 500S I'LL BE GLAD TO TAKE IT. ALMOST ALL GRANTS RIGHT NOW ARE FOR HOMELAND SECURITY.
If you have specific information about specific grants that I have overlooked, please share.
If you have any you would like to sell, please contact me.

I expect that Ruger would give you a better price or you could have another larger police dept order them for you. The Fed probably would provide money for weapons.

Why do police use shotguns ? I would think that a .223 rifle with varmint type bullets would be more effective. AR 16s would be a great choice. You might be able to purchase surplus ARs from the Feds. Alternatively, you could get Ruger mini-14s, Browning BARs or light handy bolt action rifles. You should put low magnification scopes or reddot sights on your rifles.

How do they pay their police department?

Sniff! Sniff...sniff...!!! Smells like scam to me. Might be legit, but it is highly smellified. In BS flavor.
Seriously, if the guy does what he claims, there would be better places and ways to go about it than this one.

On another board, a LEO has reported his department received 10 M14 rifles from the DoD. The weapons are on loan from the goobermint but can be considered a permanent loan--barring another world war. Maybe the Feds have some Ithaca M37 riot guns laying around that they're not using?

The 1033 Program permits the Secretary of Defense to transfer, excess U. S. Department of Defense (DoD) property (including: firearms, automobiles, electronics, body armor, etc.).

Why does this sound like a new version of a "buy back" program, only you don't get paid?

Its nice, kind, gentle folks like you that remind me why I volunteer my time and efforts. Perhaps some of you highly intelligent, brave gentlemen should volunteer your time and money to your local PD or Sheriffs Office. Of course, if it is like here, the only equipment they will supply you is the badge, the pepper spray and the 46 rounds of ammo. Need a gun? go buy it, (of course it must be what they carry)the duty belt and the uniform etc, all together around $600 or so. Need a vest? Add $300-$400 if you want one.
When I volunteered for the S.O.(thats Sheriffs Office) I was on the Motors Squad - $10,500 for the Dyna Defender, $600 for lights and siren, $125 for the pants, $250 for the boots $1200 for the class from Northwestern - oh yes 2 weeks of vacation to attend and of course the 2 weeks of food and lodging. In return I got the appreciation of fine folks like yourselves.
Im sure its not necessary to explain any of this since all of you seem you be so knowledgeable about Law Enforcement
Avagadro - We pay for the 2 full time officers by the fees from the Water Department. The rest of us are unpaid.
Mathias Please be advised I am going about this many different ways. I have received positive responses up until now. I would be inclined to believe that if you would remove your head from your rear end, things would smell better.
Wazzagrunt Thank you very much. Ill check this out. I just purchased 10 SKSs at $50 each. I intend on rebuilding and refinishing them. Properly built the Albanians are suitable police rifles. Note Ill not be installing any optics.
Pdxkevin I clearly stated that I would purchase firearms. You may also need to reference my response to Mathias.

This is the first and hopefully the last time I ever come here. Wazzagrunt, Thanks again, you actually had positive feed back, instead of just being unkind. From your handle I guess you know what its like. I wonder if any of these other fine fellows have ever had a loaded firearm between them and another person pointed either way at one time or another, and then had to live with there self later.
Well, I guess that's all the drama.......

I would like to believe you are sincere. Is it at all understandable to you that because of many many scamsters you might not be taken seriously? And believe me, I have seen scams like this before. You want me to trust you enough to give you a GUN. How did you earn that trust? I am not saying you might not be real. I just don't trust you. Think of the implications if this were a scam? I'd lose a gun, somebody might lose their lives, and I might loose my freedom for providing a gun to the lucky scamster.
And again...why are you so trustworthy? Convince me, and I might be able to help you out. Right now you just seem like a pissed-off scamster.

Sounds mighty expensive to "play cop". Why not go through the actual training and get a real job as an LEO? Only difference between what you describe and any clown arrested for impersonating a police officer, is that you're hard corp enough to attempt a suedo training.

And this two week training course gives you the authority to act as a cop? Pardon me, I've got some friends who are or were LEOs. Even so, it seems like alot of cops have way too much authority. I'm sure glad there's no "wannabees" around here.

For someone supposedly carrying the torch, you rolled over pretty damned easy. That'd be the first inclination, that you peddle Snake Oil(my perception of course).

I do a job that few can,let alone would(smarts ain't my longsuit). My simple tools ain't cheap.

Two saws(minimum) at $1000 per each, multi bars at a minimum of $75 per each(need 3 for bare bones),chain at $250 per 100',chain grinder at $1200,rail grinder at $300,good boots are $300 a pair, wedges are $7 a pop,a good axe is over $50(Stroax),tin hats are over $50,a Filson pack is close to $100 now, tapes are $25 each and you need 3,rainwear will hit you for $100 more, britches is $50-ish,shirts are $25-ish,keybacks,doo-dads,trinkets and service components will send you reeling and that don't include the rig to get there, nor the $50 a day fuel bill, let alone upkeep on the vehicle.

Then there are tree jacks at $1500-ish and a whole buncha other goodies. Rest assured, there is a buncha requirements not listed, though still necessary and none are free, nor delivered by the "Do Good Fairy". I'll spare you the perils of life and limb and the absence of a cushy retirement or Unionization, let alone health benefits.

In other words, grow a pair and quit your bitchin'. I too hope that were your last Post,as snivelers get none of my sympathy.

Life is tough, wear a helmet,or find a tall bridge and do all a favor.

All thoughts is mine and your mileage may vary................

Dadcat069, where is this place. More than likely someone (a regular to this board) lives close and can verify your story. Who knows you might get a local volunteer with guns.

My local laws dont allow volunteers.

Big Stick,

Well let me box up a couple of scatter guns and get them shipped right out.

Doesn't seem like a large Municipality. Wonder what the crime rate is. Well from the way it sounds if this fellow gets any guns there damn sure want be any. He'll be ridding rough shod over every one.
