My stove has a 5" pipe hole, but the collar in the tent is 6". Will I create any problems by using a 5"-6" increaser and 6" pipe? Curouos if this could creat poor drafting or excess creosote, or anything else I should be aware of.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it would affect drafting or not, I can't see why it would, but I guess you could just try it and see. If you did I'd test it at home before I went camping. You don't need to build a fire or even set up the tent, Just put the stove together and wad a little newspaper in it ( I guess you are building a fire--but just a little quick one) and see how it works.

Another option would be to slide a short piece of 6" pipe over the 5" pipe and put some half inch spacers on each side of it, so you would have double walled pipe through the hole in the tent. If you want to get rid of the 1/2" space that could be letting warm air out, cut little notches 1/2" deep on the ends of the six inch piece and fold them in to the 5" pipe. Your tent will be a little more isolated from the hot pipe this way.

You shouldn't be too worried about creosote build up, this is a camping tent and will be put up and taken down between uses. You can clean it out easily and often--it's not like it's up on the roof of your house, running down through the house and hard to get to. I can't see where that would be any different weather the pipe was 5" or 6".

I've needed to replace the stove jack on mine for a couple of years so I can tell ya it dose not affect the draft.
As for the creosote build up, use dry wood ( not green ). I use hard coal at night cause I don't like cold mornings. so I do clean my stove pipe and spark suppressor at least once a week

Yes--I didn't mean to imply that creosote should be taken lightly, just that you have easy access and can clean it often.

My son cut green wood from a blowdown once, it didn't take me long to figure it was green.
