a 1911 with family history....
value----- priceless This is a funny turn around. . . . . No one regarded it as anything other than a truck gun before I got ahold of it and asked a few questions. I was gonna shoot it into the ground. . . . . Oh Well . . . . . Much better than paying $500 bucks for a rat. Thanx for all of the help guys. BMT

It is a Colt frame from 1918 by serial number, with the original "army finish" if the pictures are true.
You will note there are no helical cuts in the frame behind the trigger.
It is a "parts gun", a REALLY nice one! THe pictures are true. So Terry, is the stainless Springfiled Mil-Spec a good buy? Now that I have a belt, holster, and 250 rounds of ammo . . . BMT

Congrats on a cool family gun! Once had a Remington Rand, that had been "acurized" for match shooting. Wish I still owned it! Virgil B. How many guns could we all say that about, eh? BMT

I wouldn't own a gun like that. Much too dangerous. What if you shot yourself? Big hole. I hear that happens occasionally.

Beautiful pistola BMT, congratulations on a great find. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE don't modify it or carry in in an IWB holster though! Yeah, it's yours, so do with it as you will. Just spare a few of us the sleepless nights and don't post any after photos, OK?

Read my note about "inside Joke" Its the "dangerous gun" and "typewriter" comments go way back between "Medford" and me (maybe 20 years). I sent him the link to the photos and decided to sign up for the purpose of making that joke. BMT

That is correct. Medford and I went to law school together. A classmate of ours blew a finger off and the bullet lodged in a typewriter. Its an inside joke. BMT

Just spare a few of us the sleepless nights and don't post any after photos, OK? I am gonna shoot it a little, and carry it on Dry Patriotic Holidays to honor Gramps (actually my father in law). He would want it that way. As I shoot lefty, it won't get the hard use of daily carry weapon, though. BMT

My post was intended to give BMT a chuckle. Sorry to confuse some of you. My first handgun was my .44 Redhawk in 1985, and I have since added .22, .38, .380, and .45 calibers. I prefer the .44 magnum myself. BMT and I occasionally hunt together down in northern California. The inside joke is that 15 years ago I shot my finger off with a .38 cal. "safety slug" in a gun that was "unloaded". Something that you swear you are never stupid enough to do until you do it. Finger is back on now and I am a little wiser for the experience. "Go big bores!" (Or is that "Go big boars!"?)
