Hi All,
I saw a Springfield Armory 1911A1 .45 ACP with their black chrome finish in the gunshop yesterday and I was impressed by it's balance and feel. I liked how the way the sights lined up quickly for me. I wanted to ask here for pro's and con's on this pistol. They were asking around 880.00 for it. It will mainly be used for carry and general hunting/shooting tasks. Thanks!

I thought I had answered this earlier today but must have missed the "Submit" button. I paid right around $800 for my Springfield Loaded, Stainless. Had I seen one in Black Chrome for $880.00 I'd have been hard pressed to pass on it.

I bought a Sprngfield Loaded a couple of months ago (stainless).

It is a really nice pistol. I also bought some extra magazines using the coupon that comes with it (plus a leather holster).

I would put about 300 rounds through it to beak it in. My wife really likes it too.

Thanks guys for your replies, I think I'll be going back this weekend to pick it up! I also like the fact that they make a smaller version EMP for easier conceled carry.

I bought the stainless 1911-A1 "loaded" when they first came out several years back.

I love mine and have never had any problems. All my buddies who have shot it fall in love with it too.

Good gun.

I own three Springfield 1911s, and like them all. One of my regular carry guns is a Springfield 1911. Occasionally, they let one out of the factory that's not quite right, but if you get one of those, just send it back and they'll make it right. If you get a good one (and most are), or when you get it working right, they are great guns you can depend on. Don't just load 'er up and start carrying it, though, right after buying it. All carry guns need to be thoroughly checked out for reliability, and with a Springfield 1911 (really, most 1911s that are being made these days, other than, perhaps, Smith & Wesson) this is a bit more the case than if you bought, say, a Glock or a Sig P226 as a carry gun. If it's right, though, it's right, or you can get it right, and then you have something better in a 1911 than any other format for concealed carry, IMHO. Don't hesitate, but check it out thoroughly (with the ammo you're going to carry) before you depend you life on any new gun, especially the modern factory stock 1911s.

Best "out of the box" reliability these days, in 1911s, seems to be coming from Smith & Wesson.
