I was just reading about a special run of #1's that are called the CB collection. The first one is called the Lion and is in 375 Rugger and the ones I've seen (in pics) 4 sale look really nice! And then some! smile

It sounded like they're making 200 of each rifle and I think there was either 4 or 5 cals done and each one in a different name.

Anyone else taken a look into this and if so what can you tell me about it?

Many thx for your time

I just did a bit more research and it appears that they're also gonna be doing the 7x57, 300 H&H, 450/400 and the 450 Nitro.

It'll be fun trying to get to sleep tonight with this on my mind....<g>

Whole long thread on these a while back when they were fist announced. I'd love the 300 H&H one but for my purposes the price a little prohibative. I don't need fancy wood and fancy packaing. I'll make one.

The selection of calibers is what gets my attenttion.
The 450/400, 450 nitro, 300 H&H, and 7x57 I like this combo. I would even go with the 375 Ruger even though I would have prefered the H&H version in this caliber.
I think I may do this.

Mark,

There will be 250 of each made. The calibers you mentioned are correct. The 375 Rugers came out really nice. Being in the "S" format they are pretty light and handle very nice. Pretty versatile rifle when I think about with proper handloading.

Since they sold out from the distributor months ago, you'll need to go on-line to get ahold of one. I know some dealers were offering a deal whereby if you bought one from them, you'd get first refusal on the following models having the same serial number as yours.
I thought about this but decided against it.

I have rarely seen him even use a #1 in his articles.

4 the most part I don't care about it being from the CB collection (although I do like him as a writer), what I am intrigued by is a nice #1 with very good wood and the ones that I've seen on line look to have some very nice wood.

Even if it cost a bit more to get the rifle, if the wood was what I wanted I'd pay it. The cost to stock a rifle in a manner in which I choose would be a lot more cheddar.

Dat's my thought process, and with the 7x57 I'd be kind of interested in punching it to 7 Mashburn Super.....quirky gun nut I know!

I was quoted $1299 this week.
A new one is released every 6 months which is reserved for you with same serial number.

Blaser-any idea of the sequence of the rifles? I've a fair interest in the 7x57.

Also, me thinks that they come with sights, any idea as to how tough it is to take the darn things off?

Thx
Dober

not sure but I think the 7x57 is last in the series. Sorry about that.
I am inline for them all. It is an interesting mix an I am a little curious to see what the next two years brings

If I knew it was topical I would have paid more attention...

My local shop had the 375 Ruger on the rack, IIRC $1275 or something. Metal was finished matt, wood didn't stand out but I didn't pick it up.

The shop is only 2 miles away. I'll just go back tomorrow.

I love all Ruger No. 1s. (Well, maybe not the stainless laminated ones so much...) And, I'd love to have one in .300 H&H and/or 7x57.

But, except for the rear sight and caliber, the pictures of the ones on auction don't look any different from my off the shelf .375 H&H Tropical model. In fact, the wood on my rifle is way better than anything on those auction guns.

Is there more to these guns than I'm seeing?
