this weekend. Lack of snow means the dogs are resting and it's time to move on to another outdoor activity. Went for a mini camping/canoe trip. Put in at Jim Creek and paddled lazily down stream camped in a nice little spot on Elf Creek a tiny little branch off the Mat-Su river.Wind was blowing like heck though the first day out. The dust was blowing like crazy. Nixie waiting to shove off The scenery was hazy but gorgeous, birds abundant, fish were hiding lol. Saw a beaver as it came up right next to the canoe and splashed me with it's tail. Looking upstream The view from the camping spot

Super Elf, you have a good grip on the way to live life and a place to do it. God Love Ya.

Elf,
You should be selling a couple of those pics. Beauties with a capital B.

I agree! A book that was a collection of her photos (even if she wanted to limit herself to Alaska) would sell easily...

Sis, your first photo got me to remembering the June, 1959, grizzly hunt with late friend Chuck Keim. We put his nineteen-foot Grumman in the Delta River at the usual take-out spot and went upstream to the beaver meadows above the Delta's glacial tributaries, where we camped for a week. Below the beaver meadows (quiet, lazy water), the gradient of the river was steep enough to be visibly obvious.
I was already remembering fending-off the ice chunks and frequently hand-lining around rapids when I got to your up-stream view a sweeper virtually identical to ones that I had to crawl out on to chop-away enough branches to pass the painter under.
Thanks, Sis, for brightening the memories!
(I can almost taste the grayling that we were digesting just a few minutes after they came out of the clear 33 water in the beaver meadows! No grizzly that trip, which was a delightful success in so many other ways.)
"Good enough" isn't.

Looks like a good time, Elf. This was a pre-bug trip? My favorite, although the bugs can be tolerated easily when a 20 inch grayling attacks your fly from above!
