here's a picture of my sedgly. it was rescued from a pawnshop. its missing the front & rear sights & has been drilled & tapped. i'm going to make a copy of the original front sight & get a lyman 48 for the rear. then plug the holes from the scope mounts. i have the correct buttplate for it too i just haven't installed it yet. its serial number 2188 is the highest known renumber & so far its the only known example with the chamber marked special cal 30-06. i picked up a sedgley sling on epay for next to nothing then about a week later i stubled across the rifle in a pawn shop.

I have two 03A3's. One is a Smith Corona w/ a Douglas 26 inch barrel in 280 Remington. The other is a Remington and is presently a 30-06 but will be something else by next year as I plan to rebarrel this one.

I still have one of two rifles built on Springfield 03-A4 actions. The one I still have was originally rebarreled with a Douglas #2 sporter barrel in .30-06. Later it was rebored by Cliff LaBounty to .338-06. Bishop furnished, fitted and finished one of their top-grade American walnut sporter stocks. A Leupold 2-7X scope finished the setup. The rifle delivers excellent accuracy with groups running about 1-1/2" at 100 yards. A Neidner steel butt plate insures that you "enjoy" about all the recoil you could want!

I have steel buttplates on about 10 sporting rifles.
It keeps people from asking to borrow them.

After seeing this rifle in the flesh it seems pictures just don't do it the justice it deserves. Truly an awesome piece.

Michael, thanks for posting that picture of the Owen piece also.

I have 2 but no pics at present - on in 30-06 that will soon be rebarreld to 35 whelen in 2009, and one in 458 win-mag that I load @ 450 Marlin level as there are no elephants in SC 'cept at the zoo, and they take a dim view of hunting there for some odd reason.

I used to buy them through the NRA out of the American Rifleman and then convert them to sporters...I loved those old guns and still do..

Unfortunately I don't own one today, but if one comes up for sale and its trim and slim, with a low comb and egg cheek piece as pictured in Grandviews top gun picture in the above post and in 30-06 Springfield caliber then I will surely buy it...

That's what the Lord wanted for the 1903.
