I am thinking of purchasing a Kifaru Medium stove for outings in CO and my home state of KS. I would like to set this stove up in a tarp without a stove jack. Is there a lightweight option where this stove can be set up with the stove pipe at an angle instead of strait up?

SS

I would like the stove under the tarp and the stove pipe to angle out the front entrance.

I know I've seen pics of such a setup, look at their website, pretty sure that's how the paratipi and stove gets rigged up.

You might be right, just to figure out how it is done.

That is what it looks like. I might e-mail the guys at Kifaru and find out.

SSF,

I use a poly tarp that I cut a hole in....reinforced edges of the hole with metallic tape......works great.

The collars on the Kifaru stoves allow for quite a bit of pipe lean.

The stove pipes bend a little bit, using a tarp without a stove jack, you could fit the stove just under the front of the shelter, and the stove pipe will bend enough to get it out the front. But your not going to be able to position the stove in the center of the shelter without a stove jack. Remember that when your using the stoves without a stove jack your going to need the pipe stabalizer kit as well.
There's lot's of pictures fo this type of set-up under the Tarp section of Kifaru's website.

It is easy to setup a stove under a tarp using the Kifaru collar system. There is a lot of adjustment play. I like using this when tarp camping during bad weather. Nice to have a campfire in a box as it rains cats and dogs. Just use a stick to support the pipe.
