Okay, working on pitching with kids (8 and 9) and want to show them the good and bad of their mechanics during practice. I have a Canon SD870 that shoots .avi video pretty easily. The multiple "continuous" photo is too slow to capture the kids full pitch, so I think I'm stuck with the .avi - which isn't bad, but the question is, what is the absolute simplest way to pull 5-10 still photos from the .avi file? I need to freeze it at certain points of the pitch and print the stills, and obviously show the kids - I want to be able to give them prints to take home each week.

Not sure if I can do this in the standard Windows Media Player or not; really don't want to purchase a special application or take the time to learn it now if there is a simple way. Thanks in advance!

Late reply to this, and not sure if the resolution will be there, but while playing the video, pause it where you want the still, then do a print screen function, paste that into paint, crop out all you don't want, and save the picture.

Yeah; think I'm gonna resort to that. Thanks much.
