I like my trailstove and to run it takes very little wood. I can grab sticks along the trail and have enough for cooking a meal in no time. I'm not in a race in the woods. Nor do I think that I always need a campfire. But, under a tarp in a storm with the little trailstove blazing is mighty nice. Helps with moral....just like a campfire without all the mess and fuss. It's a very versatile tool and weighs much less than a stove and fuel. But if you don't like it then don't use it. Plenty of other options. I have 5 different bp'ing stoves and use different ones on different trips for differing reasons. It's all good.

Well said. Like yourself, I own multiple stoves and multiples of just about everything else (tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, rifles, knives, cook kits, etc.). None of them are perfect and each serves a certain purpose in a certain situation. Now, if I could only get my wife to understand that.

I think it is a very cool project.
It has me motivated, as it looks to be ideal for the type of outdoor recreating I tend to do. I am out of the country currently but I believe it will be on my list of "must do" pre big game season projects.
Nicely done and good pics.

One thing I like about the trailstove beyond the cheap price is the campfire value. The AT in my State does not allow campfires however a trailstove is a campstove so it is ok. Even a little fire beats looking at the small flame of a normal campstove.

on the second version I don't think I had enough airflow. When I put the pot on the top the fire wouldn't go out but it sure slowed down a lot. I't has been put on the back burner for now, I'm too busy with other things.
