My eyes are not what they use to be. Its getting harder to see the rear and front sight and get a clear sight picture on a target. What do you reccomend? Rear peep or some type of fire sights or low power scope? Thanks

I bought Brockmans winged front and Winged rear peep. My old eyes love them. They aren't cheap but quality never is. I won't be switching them out later wishing I had bought them first. http://www.brockmansrifles.com/references.asp

I have XS sights/scout scope but certainly don't think they are better than Brockman's or Wild West's. I would shy away from Firesights only because I think the fiberoptic is fragile. No shame in a low power scope. Just keep it small for aesthetics.

WWG's Ghostring/Williams Firesight might do the trick for you. A low power scope might work also, Leupold Vari-X III in 1.5x5 is a real good choice.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

+1 on Brockmans I bought the Tritium for myself (I recommend it) and my son bought a standard one for himself
Only thing we needed to get the front & rear sites just could not get it to zero at 100 yrds with just the rear still Im Glad I did.

An easy fix is the Williams 5D receiver peep or the One Ragged Hole replacement peep blade for your folding sight. Less than $40 for either one. I have a $40 Halo Reflex sight from Cheaper Than Dirt on my .35 Marlin for hogs, but I've not fired it yet. These suggestions are of sights that I own, not better, just options. I also use a 1 1/2 X 5 shotgun scope on my Guide Gun. Good luck.

I think you are onto the right track with aperture sights. If you want to spend the money, the Brokman sights look bullet proof. I've used XS(when they were Ashely) sights for a long time and they are great too and now come with "wings" if you like that.
My eyes are getting older but the aperture sights still look great to me. I recommend sticking with the rear-mount variety that puts the aperture close to your eyes. If you notice, that's where the M1 Garand, and M-16's aperture sights are... for a reason.

I have the Brockman rear aperture sight and it works great. I also have a Marlin 1895 GG with a Leupold Vari X II 1.5-5 with the illuminated circle and dot reticle. I absolutely love it. I also am at the stage of eye issues and both of the above work great.
Good luck.

George I agree...I have a Williams 5D on my 1895, and it's an improvement over the factory sights, for me. The disc can be removed easily, and then it becomes a 'ghost ring'.
