I just ordered two Burris Timberline 2-7X26 scopes for two of my leverguns. I've received one, and it went on a vintage 1974 Marlin 336 30-30. The second inbound Timberline is going on a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington. I havent' field tested the optic yet, but the clarity is outstanding, and surpasses the Leupold VX-I 2-7X32 that I have on my Marlin 1895G in 45-70. The Burris is a little brighter at sundown than the Leupold, in a side to side comparison this evening. It appears to be a whole bunch of scope for the money. I suppose time will tell.
These Timberlines replaced the Burris Short Mag scopes from last year. Not sure where the Short Mags were made (US I think), but these Timberline are Philipinne scopes, like the FFII's.
For what it's worth, they mount up like they were custom made for leverguns. The eye relief is large, and they are a perfect fit for the Marlin levergun shooter.
I mounted mine in Warne two piece steel bases, with Burris low Zee rings. A very nice setup, and I'll provide a range report, once that I have both of them mounted up and make a range trip.
If anyone else has had an experience with this line, please let me know. Thanks!
