I posted this on the fishing forum also....but I need some tips on tackle, etc. for fishing in the Kenai Peninsula area. I have a house rented south of Soldotna and will be fishing with my twin 13 year old grandsons. We have rods and reels, just need tips on tackle/methods for some fishing in that area. Thanks

There's book called Fishing the Kenai Peninsula that has a bunch of info. Or you can PM me.

Bubba-
Every species requires different tackle, technique, and methods. See what people around you are using. Charters will provide what you need. Make a visit to Soldotna Trustworthy Hardware on the Sterling Hwy in Slowdotna for gear and advise.

Also, make NO assumptions and study the regs. Good luck and have fun!

2nd what Rat said. Only I'll add: Get a guide for either a half day or full. Then see what the guide is using and ask lots of questions. Tip him well.

I would recommend a guide also if you want to get on fish. I was there in early June and had no success with my kids. Maybe I was just too early???

When Ronald Reagan was president, we had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash.
Now that Barack Obama is president, we have NO hope and NO cash.

BOW777-

Where were you and what were you fishing for? Did you hire a guide?
