I helped a fellow Saturday with a new Tupperware ADL 700 in 223. We took it out of the WallMart bag, adjusted the trigger, attached a one piece Leupold base and rings, put a borrowed BSA scope on it, loaded 20 rounds of well used WW brass with 40 gr. Ballistic Tips, and set him up on the bench. After two sighting rounds he (a new shooter) put the next ten shots well inside a one inch orange sticky dot at 100 yards.

You just gotta hate a piece of junk like that. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, Darn those Remingtons. DARN them, dang it. They're almost as good as a Savage.

You could also buy a CZ527. They make very nice and accurite rifles, they also come with very solid rings too. And they are pretty light unless you buy the varminter.

OK, you asked about Ruger and Rem. Sorry... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Don't rule out the Ruger pointer , in spite of all the die hard Remmy whackos that hang out here . I purchased a stainless Ruger .223 sporter several years ago and it is a 3/4 minute rifle right out of the box . You won't need the McMillin as bad , the Ruger stock is way stiffer than the ADL tupperware in my opinion . You'll get good rings with the Ruger , all you'll need is maybe a trigger job .

Feed and function on the Ruger is perfect right out of the box . And you'll get a floorplate...........handy when dust , dirt and other crud may fall into your action................

Thanks for all the input guys. I picked up a 700 ADL in .223 over the weekend for a good price. The Ruger was through an online broker, so shipping and FFL fees made it much more expensive.

Keep us updated as you make modifications to the rifle.
