The charade of a so-called election is today taking place in Zimbabwe, with a foreseeable disastrous result for the people of that former paradise. But it is, on top of this criminal rape of a country, revolting to see a former high-ranking officeholder of United Nations Development Program hanging out with and giving support to the Dictator Robert Mugabe. I am referring to Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, who in the seventies and eighties held various senior posts in UNDP in Southern Africa, before managing to get elected to the Presidency of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Kabbahs time as President in Sierra Leone was marred by a long civil war, which he seemed neither to have mastered nor honestly wished to end. And over the last months same Mr. Kabbah has been seen broad-smiling in Harare at the shoulder of Mugabe. It is sad, but possibly symptomatic of certain African officials understanding of moral, that this Gentleman now has chosen to spend his retirement as stooge to the Dictator, who has mastered the art of making Idi Amin look like a Boy scout.

Let us hope, that the numerous foreign hunters, who have enjoyed the hospitality and friendship of this wonderful but longsuffering country, will raise their voice in support of a true democracy in Zimbabwe.
