A buddy and I just bought a couple of Sendero II's in .300 Ultra Mag for some medium range coyote (and other stuff) hunting. The 200 grain Accu-Bond looks like my huckleberry... anyone got some good load data for this combo? I'm thinking Retumbo and RE-25 (both on-hand) will probably do the trick.

yup! you got it. Work up towards 92 gr RL 25, fed 215M, OAL 3.650, rem brass, and chrono it. be lookin for 3100 to 3150 fps. or work up toward 95 gr retumbo as many on this site do. I use the RL25 load with 200 AB. be careful as some lots of RL25 are quicker(ie--more like RL22) than others. you will see pressure signs quicker if you are unlucky and get a fast lot. Work up your powder charges from 10% below to be prudent and safe. seems like my rifle is happy w/ RL 25 right in the 3150 range. It doesn't like retumbo as well. I tried it many times trying to force feed it. Many rave about retumbo however. Ramshot magnum gave some outstanding accuracy as well but velocity was around 3030.

I use IMR-78228, but I'm only getting about 2,850fps out of my 300 RUM with this load, but accuracy is around .6 at 100 yards for 5 shots.

DDP-if I recall right to a T all of my buds running 300 RUM's are burning R25 and 92 seems to be the number.

That's what I'm talking about!!
That looks like exit wounds from the 6mm/87 grain VMax vs. coyote confrontations... but on a big, big critter. After seeing a bunch of AB kills on bear and deer, out of various rifles... I can't imagine there's a better bullet for the .300 RUM than the 200 grainer.

What you're saying about the 6/87 on yotes and how it hammers them is exactly how I like to have big critters react to whatever I am playing catch with them with! (remember I use a 24/06 for my main yote rig) Well said! Dober

High velocity exit wounds rule... when there's pieces of clockwork for 60' out the off side, you're not really going to walk that off!
When we decided on the .300 RUM... that was my exact comparison. Looking at the numbers, both theoretical and empherical, I truly believe black bears (aside from hounds/bait) are to big game what the coyote is to the varmint world... and your firearm should be equally suited. Bears are tough as hell man, I'm really impressed... and I've seen coyotes take some serious poundings and go a long ways too. I am not one to worship at the alter of 'acceptable' cartriges... I want to bring the smacketh down! Hence, the 6mm on coyotes... even though the 22-250 does just fine. And, a new black bear rifle that brings similar performance on a much larger scale.
Bring forth the 200 grainers, un-cork vast quantities of RE-25... and let the beatings begin!

That's a nice long-range combo you got there. Those Sendero's are nice rifles, especially if it is chambered for 300 RUM. I got some 200-grain Accubond's to load up this week so I can try them this weekend. I have plenty of Retumbo that needs burned up.

John Nosler used the 300 Ultra and 200-grain Accubond combo to take three hogs with one bullet. Penetration shouldn't be an issue I don't think.
