Been kinda slow around here as far as completed rifle projects go. I just sent off an action to have re-barreled and am finishing up my 223 Sucks. Probably my last two projects for awhile as my battery is almost complete and need to stash funds for future hunts etc.

So what have you gents been cooking up lately?

I picked up a 700 ADL .223 for a starter. I'm gonna scope it with a Leupold VX-II 3-9X40 and shoot it as is for a bit. Then a rechamber to AI and a McM either in Classic or Mtn Rifle down the road. That's it for me.

Will be getting a Sucks 223 up to speed in the off season. When are you going to post the project info and pics from your 223 project?

What kind of mounts are you using? Wife gave me a VX-II 3x9 for our anniversary so I need to get it mounted on my 223.

I'm gonna do the 1-8" twist 223AI Thing.

Will dump the S/S SUCKS action and PacNor S/S #3 contoured tube into a Classic handle, that it is black/white swirled.

Barrel length is gonna be 21.5" and hopes are to get 75gr A-Max's going at 3000fps or a smidge better. It will be an all around Play Toy. Am thinking Badger alloy base and Max-50's with an M1 3.5-10x duplex.

Should yield a bulletproof knockabout, with the Oooomph to get to the 1000yd line and manage the wind decently. If it yanks my crank,I'll twist up a 22-250AI spun likewise, though in the ROCK-ish theme, just to see what that's all about. Those 75's just keep calling me.

Would suprise me none, that some "emergency" builds pop up and as of yet,I've zero idea what the hell they are gonna be......................

I'm having a .375H&H built on a Sako L691 action, Acrabond laminated stock and PacNor supermatch stainless barrel. It's also going to Robar for full Roguard/NP3 treatment. Will have NECG open sights and a Leup 6x42 on QD mounts.

It's my first custom project, and I'm learning a lot..unfortunately, not doing any of the work myself...so I'm mulling over a few ideas for the next one already. Something I can do more with on my own. I want a 7mm-08 of some sort, nothing else is decided yet.

I just hope this one's ready in time for spring brown bear hunting...

LSU,
It pretty much mirror's Steve Timm's rifle. I'll have pics and info up by the end of the week hopefully.

BTW, Damn those Tigers are tough. I'm not shamed to admit that they flat whipped my Sooners. Hats off.

I'm taking my Dad on a plains game hunt in Namibia later in the year as a retirement present. Since I booked it 2x1 (so we could spend the days together) I decided to have a .300 Win Mag made identical to his so we'd have two that fit/feel just alike. It's a M70 Classic SS with a 24" PAC-NOR #4 in a McMillan Supergrade, Williams bottom, Wisner extractor, etc, etc. with a 3.5-10x40 Vari-X III in Talleys. 'Smith has everything in but the stock.

Most everything is ordered for my semi-do-it-yourself lightweight project as well. It'll be a .280 Ackley on a Remington Ti action with a 23" Lilja #1 in a McMillan Hunter's Edge. Probably get a 6x42 in Talley lites.

The .270 takeoff barrel from the Ti will go on an old ADL and back into the Ti stock then into the classifieds.

My boy took over his Mom's LSS Mountain Rifle 7mm-08. It's getting the LOP adjusted and a new pad, being circumcised to 21", the stock getting a really dark well sealed finish and the metal Gun Koted.

Lastly, I had been kicking around for a while a tough all-around weather resistant shotgun to take on my travels and finally have it going. Cole will go through and then fit new 30" barrels to an old 686 Beretta Sporting I had in the closet. It's then going to Wenigs for a dark brown laminate stock and forearm and all the metal is getting the Robar treatment.

I think that's it unless we start talking knives...

I'm in a holding pattern right now. I got the donor 700 30-06 that will eventually become a 6.5 8-twist heavy barreled cruise missile launcher. I just replaced all my X-course gear and service rifle for next season so the tactical stuff will have to wait for a short time.

I just did up a Ruger 77/17. Switched in a spec-tec trigger and timney spring/sear, a boyd's laminated thumbhole stock, and a Clark .920 SS barrel. Been wreaking havoc on the starlings and pigeons. Got three pigeons today as a matter of fact.

Looking to get a 25 06 for my boy in the next month or two. Plan on doing something for myself as well in the next couple months but got so many ideas I gotta narrow them down and pick one.

I've been pondering the idea of having a 257 Weatherby or a 300 RUM built for me. Model 70 S/S classic action, McMillan stock, Walther barrel at 26" or 28". I dunno yet, I need to talk with Celt some more.

Well,
Penny just called and said they (PacNor) were finished with my 6mm-250 and it will be shipped today. Seems that they finished this a little more than 3 weeks earlier than forcasted. Hot dog.

So I am hoping to have it by the end of the week. A #3 or 4 contour SS 22.5" barrel on a SA Sucks. I will use a HS stock that I already had for a couple of years now. Light weight talleys, new trigger, and a like new 3.5x10 Conquest (That I got for about $50).

When my cash flow gets a little better, I may have one of my 223's Acklyfied. Then a 6.5x284 or 6.5 Swede built using one of those swirly stocks.

I'm having an old Ruger #1b 22-250 rebarreled to 270 Weatherby. Using a Pac-Nor super match 3-groove, finishing at 28". Will use a custom rib that puts the rings a bit farther back, and top it off with a matte 3.5-10X40 in Talleys.

With the 28" barrel, I should get just over 3400 with 140 grainers. Should be an okay long-range deer rifle

I've also got a MRC stainless magnum long action on the way that will become a lightweight 30 mag, either a short throated Wby or a long throated Win. Pac-Nor #1 25" barrel and a Bansner stock. With another 3.5-10X40 in Leupold QRs I'm thinking less than 8 pounds for a finished weight.

Bill Leeper is doing the work on both rifles.

I bought a pair of Kimber 84M's so just like that I got delivery!

The swivel studs are countersunk too deep in each of these rifles at each end so I made up some spacers and the color was wrong so I made up more and the 7-08 is done.

Thinking of having the LOP cut from the standard 13.66 to 13.25 on one of them as with the heavy parka on it's a little long for me.

Thinking of getting my AYDT 8.15-46R out of the back row in the safe and shooting it again.

Just about every gun I have is a work in process plus I have some friends guns here that I am tweaking as well.
