.257 In the cheapo Vanguard flavor...Didn't shoot it until I replaced the stock & put a Timney in...it's the most accurate rifle I own...flatest shooting too...

I've had two MarkV's in .300 WM. One was a Saur made Deluxe model, the other was a Stainless by SDI. Eventually I traded both for a Super Big Game Master. Never had a problem with any of them. I'd like to get one .257 WM.

300 Weatherby in a German Mk V with custom walnut, 7mm Weatherby in a Mauser, 270 Weatherby presently being built on a Mauser. Don't much like the Weatherby stocks.

Bob, You think the .257WM might work from a tree stand?

mine are model 70s in 240 & 257 wby. hard to beat the vanguard to $400 though! can always replace stock down the road. I just took my model 70 in 30-06 and mailed it off and it came back with a 24" stainless tube in 257 wby for about $400. next wil be the a 270 wby. if you think speed kills, and for deer I do, the 257 & 270 are hard to beat and factory loads are speedy and dont kick too much.

if you have not looked at the 240, it is a dandy and easy to shoot!!!

I have owned two mark V rifles, one in 257wby,and another in 300wby.I was disappointed in the accuracy of both.Neither was as accurate as my factory 700s despite a great deal of load development. For the price of the mark Vs,I expected much better.
