Does anyone here own one of the Meopta line of rifle scopes?
I'm planning on picking one up before season starts to refit my .300 WSM. Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to wring one out on a magnum of any sort.

There's a nice one in the classifieds right now for a nice price.
I've been itching to view through one of them for months now, but no one in my area sells them. That being said, I've read that they are very good quality, function and glass, but opinions vary.....

I've managed to locate a dealer with pretty much one of each model in the lineup. If everything I've heard about them to this point is true they are one heck of a unit.
They arent exactly cheap but still about $600 less than I'd have to pay for a Zeiss or Swaro equivalent.
I'll check the classifieds. Thanks.

I have a meostar 3-10X50 with the #4. I am very impressed with it. I have owned a bunch of scopes and still own a few each of conquests, VX-II-III's, 4200's, monarchs, and I would put the glass on top of all of those.
The thing that impresses me the most is how well it tracks, crazy...

As good as it is I am into the lightweight stuff now so it will probably get sold...

The Meostar series is the one to consider, the other ones don't have Meopta's best coatings.

Quick summary: Bright, clear, heavy and shortish eye relief.

Yep, that's what I saw/felt when I checked them out a couple months ago.

Meopta scopes are fairly popular with deer stalkers here in the UK.

I have a couple of their older models, a 7x50mm and a 4x32mm and neither has caused me any problems over the years. I have used both on a CZ550 9.3x62mm at one time or another and in fact used the 4x32mm on it for plains game in RSA a couple of years back.

Mathmans summary of "Bright, clear, heavy and shortish eye relief." is pretty accurate...I was initially worried about the "shortish eye relief" on my CZ550, but they were fine...I suspect that getting "scope eye" is just as much a product of an ill fitting rifle as shorter eye relief...

I Bought one Couple of weeks ago. I'd Rather Have it Than a VXIII and I've got Several of them. They are a Bit on the Heavy side. But the Glass Is Excellent Edge to Edge.Glass Looks Close to My Swarvoski's.

Been using a 6x42 for years. Price was $100 cheaper then but this model is still less than the FX-III. Absolutely love it. They have the bes click adjustments I have ever used. Customer service now available here in the US (NY I think?) was absolutely stellar.

I've owned a Meopta Artemis 2100 3-12X50 for about 6 years now.....in my opinion it is the best scope for under $1600 that there is. I fell off the dog box on a bear hunting trip to Ontario about 4 years ago when the driver thought I was sitting down and took off, I fell about 4 feet onto a gravel road, first thing to hit was my elbow and my scope. I figured from the lick it took that the glass would fall out when I stood up....not so, I checked the zero a few minutes later and it hadn't changed.....that impressed the heck out of me. I did a brightness/clarity test with a Meopta and a Swaro both on rifles from dusk until slap dark, if there was any difference my eyes couldn't tell it. Buy one with confidence, you won't regret it.

I've Custom loaded for two rifles that had the 3-12x50 Meopta. One a 300WM Abolt, the other a 7RM 700.

They are nice scopes. They are heavy and the eye relief is not a Leupold, but they are pretty clear to my eyes. I don't like them as much as the Conquest line, but they are nice scopes. I'd rate them about the same as I would the VX3 line.

Good Luck

They are not cheap, are they that much better than leupold or zeiss conquest for similar money?

I have heard that Cabela's premium scopes are made by Meopta, anyone know if this is true?

Meopta have made scopes for others on a subcontract basis so it could be true.

Problem is, even if those scopes are made by Meopta, their quality will depend on the specification laid down by Cabela's and that of course is going to be driven by price...

Great Optics...too heavy...eye relief much too short, IMO

I like Meoptas. Have had an Artemis 2000 for several years, and just picked up a Meostar. The 3 X 10 X 50mm with the # 4 looks like the best dealto me. I have a 3 X 10 X 50 I got locally for $525. I got the Z Plex 2, which is a litle too fine for my taste, wish I could have gotten the #4 for the same price. Downside as mentioned is eye relief. They work great on standard calibers, things can get dicey with magnums. I would say it is a little better than a Conquest except for weight and eye relief.

+1 - a friend owns one and it is clear and seemingly well made. As was said, it seems to fit in pretty much with the VX3 line.
