I just bought a new unfired 416 Rem Mag Sako Fiberclass. It is a fairly late AV action. I also have a 9.3X62 and 338 Win Mag Sakos that are AV actions as well. I remember something about an upgrade guide rail kit that Sako offered to solve the problem some people encountered with the guide rail jamming the action after firing. Does anyone know if they still offer this? My 338 has had at least 1500 rounds through it without a hitch. I also have been told that Sako rectified this problem with the later AV actions by having the lighter guide rail etc installed at the factory. Does anyone know what serial # range or when this might have happened? I got this 416 for $600 plus shipping and it is new unfired but had another rifle fall against it in a safe and scratched the bluing on the barrel. Seems like a good price to me and I might get it coated anyways. Do any of you fellows have one of these in this caliber and how do you like it? Thanks for any help.
