As you remember, I purchased this .308 caliber Howa M-1500 at a local shooting shop for $399 and posted earlier about my satisfaction with its accuracy.
Here are some pics of the rifle and some of the targets it shot over two range sessions. Enjoy.
The rig with new Timmeny trigger and Bushnell Trophy 3x9-40.
FIRST RANGE SESSION
Here is a typical example of the kind of accuracy the rifle turned in with Winchester 180gr PowerPont Ammo
Next I swithched to some 165gr Federal Fusion ammo. The first group targeted way different from the 180's and landed right in the middle of one of my former groups I had made while sighting in the rifle. The holes in the circle were the first three 165gr Fusions that I ran through my rifle.
So then I adjusted the scope, cleaned the rifle, let it cool and fired this 4 shot group.
SECOND RANGE SESSION
I had struggled with the factory trigger througout the first session. So I ordered a replacement from Timmeny, adjusted it to 3 pounds, gathered up some different ammo to try to find out just what kind of accuracy the rifle is capable of, and headed to the range.
Here Is how it did with some 168gr Sierra MK's loaded by Remington.
And here's how it did with some Federal Premium 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. The flyer happened when I was pulling the trigger and lost my concentration causing me to drop my shoulder right as the round touched off.
All considered, I was extremely pleased and spent the rest of my day pounding away at the 6 inch steel gong out at 200 meters.
