it was a hornady load book. That was the only one I glanced at for comparison.

Plus, notwithstanding the propaganda,it is easier to get slick reliable feeding from the belted case in most actions than from the RUM,which is a hair too big for a 700 action IMHO.I worked with a 700 AWR in 300 ultra a couple weeks ago that had so many feeding issues I wouldn't use it for a door stop.

I own two 300ultramags on 700 actions, and both feed perfectly. Two other friends also have 700's in 300ultramag,and both feed perfectly. On also has a 700 in 7mmRUM ,and it feeds perfectly.

Then you need to look at some other books, even the 7mmstw is ahead of the 7mmwby by a decent margin.

Not for me.

Don't need the bite, the "3000fps+" velocity, or any of the other hype. The 30.06 does it all for me, just as it has for others.

Sometime in my late 40's - early 50's I developed a hyperbole allergy. Now I can't own anything with "ultra" in its name.

The one I played with two weeks ago fed like crap.I can arrange for you to speak with the owner if you like, when he gets back from NWT.Like I said my M70 in 300 RUM fed well. I'm glad your 700's work for you.

When I see a bunch of Rem 700 RUM's in the hands of Alaskan and African pro's I'll be a believer.Let me know how many use them.

Why would you get a Rum over a Roy?

Can you spell COMPENSATION?

I do not need as much compensation as some but more than others. That is why my 7mm is an STW.

in the heavier bullets (175gr) the Roy matches the Rum in speed with the exact same powder but ~14grs less powder.

Seriously, the 7 Wea has almost the exact same case capacity as the 7 Rem. And loaded to equivalent pressures, there is zero performance differences. So the question might be: "Why buy a 7 Wea instead of a 7 Rem mag?"

But the Ultra mag case has considerable more capacity and does allow more velocity from the round. But at the cost of more powder usage, recoil, muzzle blast, and throat erosion. Each of us has to draw the line somewhere, at how much velocity we need vs how much of the aforementioned costs we are willing to pay.

Some think the 7 Mauser give the perfect ratio of power vs cost, others like the 280 Rem, while others are prepared to pay the cost associated with the 7 mm REm or Wea mag.

I draw the line at the STW. I like the velocity it delivers with 160 gr bullets, But I can not enjoy shooting anything which kicks me harder than the STW does.

The 7mmstw is my all time favorite cartridge, and I still own one,but I prefer a good 140gr bullet like the mrx.
