Yesterday a friend and photographer gave me a Canon EOS Elan7, and a Quantaray QTB-9500A flash, but no lense because they fit his digital camera. Where can you get lenses that won't break the bank? Greg

Sigma & Tamron have good lenses in the $200-800 range. You can get Canon non-L lenses in this range as well.

Thanks for the link, nice site for research on lenses, one thing is for sure they don't give those lenses away? Been used to the old 35mm mode where you can pick up lenses for $30.00 to $70.00 range. May have to sell all of my manual 35mm stuff to afford lenses for the new Canon? I am looking forward to a new phase of photograghy, with all the bells and whistles of the Elan7. Greg

the "kit lenses" -- think in the 20mm to 100mm zooms with 55mm objectives -- can take very good pictures and retail under $150. their primary limitation is light (they are small aperture, usually 3.5-5.0) and are best outdoors on sunny days. indoors, or at the ends of day, their weaknesses become very apparent.

The "Nifty Fifty" is a great deal budget minded or not. Not one you'd want to play catch with but fast & capable of some great pics.
