I have a buddy that is going to order a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 to top a Rem 700 SPS Youth in 7mm-08 Remington for his daughter. He wants to order as quickly as possible (upcoming birthday) so I was wondering if I could hear a couple of quick suggestions on mounts. Most likely leaning towards a two piece base/rings combo. What height ring provided clearance for you?

Many thanks!

For a childs gun keep it lite. The Talley lite wieghts are great. You should have him order the Bushnell from Doug at CameralandNY.

If you go with the talley light weights go with the lows. The Warne maximas are also a very good choice.

That 4200 3-9 is a very very good scope.

Talley light weights one-piece rings.

(from the Talley site)
Ring Height Selection Guide:

LowRing Ht for scopes up to 44 mm objective with standard barrel contour. Medium Ring Ht for scopes up to 50 mm objective with standard barrel contour. High Ring Ht for scopes with a 56 mm objective with standard barrel contour. Ex-High Ring Ht for large objective scopes with heavy contour barrels and single shot rifles

Thanks! I forwarded your recomendations for the low Talley Lightweights to him. I'd initially been leaning that way as it is what I had previously used to mount a 3-9x40 Conquest on my 30'06 Kimber Montana a year ago. They worked well last season!

Your recomendations reinforced my feelings.
