I'd rather see him keep the rifle and find a young kid to pass it on to. My $$ should be in todays mail with a little luck.

Lots of issues with games of chance... It would require a gaming license somewhere and there would be all kinds of issues beyond that. Raffles are a bad trap and everyone should realize office raffles for guns (for example) can be felonies for all involved.

I am pretty sure Rick would need to stay WAY away from that.

Didn't know that. Everyone should stay way from that if there is something wrong about it.

I'm in too! Check will be sent to:

Ryan Berg

Wellington, CO. 80549

and made out to Tom Keenan.

Please let us know how Mrs. Keenan is doing and if they need anything to make her recovery better and faster!

I won't be raffling the rifle but simply giving it to a random person who meant well with their kind gestures. I don't think that will be interpreted as a raffle. I am not selling tickets, nor am I asking for donations, the donations are being sent by generous individuals that just want to help. Should it become an issue I think what I will do the second idea which is find a good kid that needs his first hunting rifle and donate it to the cause. So we will see what happens. I think this is one of the kindest and most heartfelt situations I have ever had the honor of being part of. Ryan

Very shortly to keep from sidetracking a GREAT thread...
Any illegal firearm transfer is a felony. Any game of chance run without all legal steps taken (gambling license specifically) is an illegal transfer. Gambling rules vary greatly by state.

I have run many raffle prizes through my FFL for charities. I have had discussions with BATF on the subject.

Feel free to continue this in a PM if I am unclear.
Thanks to all for a little ray of sunshine!

I got no PM, but it's cool, I checked back in and see the ball is rolling.

it's what I love best about this country I call home, the great people that live here.

I salute all of you guys that are behind this.

my check goes out in tomorrows mail, cause it's Sunday nite.

my deepest appreciation to all of you.

OK, I'll be the a**hole...I'll take the rifle!!!

Just kidding! Seeing as you CO folks are nice enough to let my obnoxious buddies and me come take a few of your pretty mule deer every year, I think the least I could do is to contribute to this more than worthy cause. I'll get a check in the mail asap. Please give Mrs. Keenan my best wishes for a speedy recovery...

none of my biz so it's up to Tom after all it is his rifle.

but I hope he gets enough loot from us that he feels he can afford to just give the rifle away.

maybe he remembers a good kid he gave firearm instruction to, but perhaps a poor kid that it would take a long time to afford a rifle.

the only way to deal with blessings ime, is to go on and bless others. YMMV
