What is your experience and feeling on Hevi-Shot? I'd like to start using it in my new Benelli Super Black Eagle. It sounds like it could be the ticket for turkey this spring

It's a mixed reaction on Hevi-Shot for Turkey. I've seen people who thought it was the greatest thing since "sliced bread" and others who didn't like it. The main dislikes was that it was pricey compaired to regular Turkey loads that have been killing birds for years.

I have seen people get over confident and take shots at birds that were too far out, because they really never shot max. distance with it. They only went with the concept that it would shoot further and better then regular Turkey loads. The birds were hit, but not killed and ran off and were so far out of range by then it didn't matter what you had. I've seen people go to Hevi-shot and 3 1/2 chambered guns and get impatient and take too far off shots, if they would of waited they could of killed the bird with a 20ga. and 2 3/4.

It's as good or maybe better then regular loads, in the right gun and within the max. effective range and you don't mind paying more. Good luck buy it and try it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I dunno about it on Turkeys, but it is better than the best lead ammo on ducks and geese. Hard to quantify, but I'd give the larger shot at least 10 yards superiority. It smacks large Canada Geese at 50 yards with 4s. Of course, I usually use 2s or larger.
