Thinking about a nice pocket knife hunter that could gut and maybe skin an elk if it had to. Found this one and with an S30V blade I thought it might be the ticket.

I'd think it would work OK. S30V is a great steel.
I own more than a few folders, but would not consider them up to the task of dressing an elk or a moose.
IMO, a folder is already broken. Some chores are best suited to a fixed blade. They are tough, easier to keep clean and will not fold under pressure.

I have a Blade Tech in G-10 and S30v some where around here I would be willing to sell if you want.

The knife is just a little to big for my style.

I have a Spyderco Large and Small Wegner, both in ATS-34 of course. I like them pretty well, they've been ok for me. I prefer a fixed blade for game use, but I have used the small Spydie Wegner to clean up several batches of squirrels and the Large Wegner on a couple of deer. They worked as well as any other folder, better than some. I actually think what you are looking at is a slightly improved version regarding handling and perhaps better built too. Blade Tech's prices are a bit steep though...

I'm not a fan of folders for big game chores and If I were going to spend that much , I'd call Charlie May. For little or no difference he would build me a knife that would last the rest of my life.

I carry his Handy Scandi in my back pocket everyday and it's smaller profile than the Blade Tech and It will dress a deer or hog in a heart beat.

That knife is kick ass. I've had one, which was taken by TSA. Called Tim and he sold me a scratch and dent model for cheap. Just bought another. That line, I believe, is over. Not sure if the price will go up or down.

The knife is well thought out. Handle is open and can be washed out so hide and fat do not stay tucked down into the hollow. Has two sets of serations on top of the blade, allowing for up to three different grip positions. S30V kicks ass.

Knife was adopted as duty issue to Alaska Game and Fish.

I did not look at the specifics of your link, but $172 is kinda steep. I would strongly recommend it.

I onw the Blade-Tech mouselite and like it alot. I would love to get one of their more expensive models.
