.
I have found a Marlin 336 that looks like a sporting carbine, pistol grip, 3/4 mag., 20 inch barrel. The barrel is not stamped with any letter denoting the model. Only the caliber which is unusual, it is marked "Marlin 375 Win". Serial number indicates 1980 as Yr of Mfg.
What is it and what is it worth? Condition is 90% or better with anly a few scratches in the wood, metal looks good.

That's an EX model IIRC - standard Marlin offering in the 80's - didn't sell too well and was discontinued. They also chambered them in .356 Winchester. Too bad people didn't see the merit of these calibers in a levergun...
I recently had an 68 RC in 35 Rem rechambered to .356 Win and love the rifle - its great!
If the price is anywhere under $600 - buy it now!

It's a Model 375. Value is $400 - $500 The .375 winchester is a fantastic, hard hitting, easy shooting round in the marlin lever guns. Weagle

That is exactly like it, Weagle. Thanks, I'll buy it if we get the price right.

If you get it south of $450, get it. Hard to find, and harder to let go of.

I'm thinking somewhere around $400- $450, but I don't yet know what he is going to ask. The owner wants to use it once more so I am hoping that he has an unsucessful hunt. (grins)

Point out to him how hard it is to find ammo for it. If you haven't already done so, don't mention reloading as a solution.

Well, that deal went south. The owner looked at the GunBroker webb site where someone had a similar gun listed for $650. The gun on GunBroker didn't sell but the owner now thinks his gun is worth that.
Doesn't matter, I was able to find another one for $425 so I gave it a good home. It shoots very well with jacketed bullets but I have not been able to get cast bullets to work. Still working on that. Anyone have a good cast bullet load for a Marlin 375?

I believe its interchangeable with the .38/55 Winchester cartridge. Well not exactly. The 38-55 is a bit longer and .005 larger in diameter. Could cause issues. .

J: if the barrel has "microgroove" rifling you may not have much luck with casw bullets. even marlin went to conventional rifling for the cowboy guns for use with cast bullets. something about the cast lead bullets not gripping the rifling?

They shoot fine when the bullets fit the throat and bore. Snow. That was the problem, bullet diameter. The cast bullets that I had on hand were sized .375, my barrel is .376. What I need is a bullet sized .377 or .378. Melchung, You are correct, however, the micro groove will shoot cast. In my guns it just takes a lot more "fiddling around" to get them to shoot, and I cannot get the velocity that I can with a ballard rifle. Micro groove not gripping the cast bullet as well as ballard? My guns indicate that is correct. .
