I was attending the Sportsmans show in Portland today and
had the chance to talk with the youngest Nosler. This
young gentleman gave me his attention as I gave him my
opin on what I hope Nosler would make in Accubonds.

A 26/125 and a 25/100 says I. He said how about a 25/120?...with a glean in his eye.

These Accubonds with their super high BC's bring a lot to the table for my money.
The 27/140 has a BC of .496 and I know some who are
getting 3,300 out of the rifles using Accurate Mag Pro powder.
That puts it in the 264 win mag catagory.
Geez, I keep thinking I need one of these in a handy MTN rifle.
A short 13" lop, short 700 action with a 24" tube, thad do it.

Charlie, all the Noslers are very approachable, Hope you can get your wish on that 9mm. I really like the 9.3s. as well.

Spikee, You make me laugh,
I have nothing but high hopes for some Barns that I plan on shooting this week out of a 338. BTW there hombre, do you have a quick load for those 185s? I baked them in some "Fastex" and they are ready to go. Also,
Let me know when you get the Dura Bake, the oven is ready to go. Bring the fam and well have a BBQ as well. My little 3
year old would love to meet yours.

POP, noted, I was thinking of ya when I was talking to John. Send him an email or just call him and give him your input, the more he/they hear 6.5 the better.

Sue,

email me at jpeyton@aracnet.com and I'll send you the QL data (I don't have your email addy here at home)

The Durabake should be here Mon. or Tues. Tamara said she's looking forward to getting together. As long as you're BBQing chicken with the secret sauce I'll be there.

Also, word is folks are now calling in dogs howling...apparently the rut is on!! Sheister, Silver Bullet you guys listening? It's time for a rematch.

Chicken and secret sauce it is....

Yeah, I talked with a local guy from Burns sat. who guides
predetor hunts. He was saying that now and the past few weeks have been Howling time, not distress time. Makes me feel pretty lucky for what I called in. Anyhow, He says a short howl on the howler and a few seconds on a distress and thats it. This is the time where they are all bunched up and packed together. When they hear the short howl and short
distress, the pack decide they are going to go take it (the prey) away from johnnie newcomer aka young yote.
But, in a few weeks it will be distress calling time.
I'm all up for a rematch. "I've got killin on my mind, I've
got killin on my mind", hey, isnt that how Willy sang it?

pm coming at ya, and thanks

Heck, if they'd just put a plastic tip on the Partition they'd please me to no end... I'm thinking black would work.

I just wish they'd make the accubond in a 30 caliber bullet that's useful. It's only made in 200 grain for the 30 caliber, a bullet that I and the majority of other 30 cal shooters have no use for. If they'd make a 150 or 165 grain 30 cal accubond then they'd have something. Until then they're useless as tits on a boar hog.

MTN Hunter, Dura Bake comes from the same people that
produce Dura Coat. You can use your own spray equipment or buy the Bake in an aerosal can for about $20.00 a can. I choose the aerosal form because of convenince. I made my own oven from a propane tank. I cut the top off and hinged it
to be able to open and close it. I run heat to the bottom
of the tank to 300 degrees for 15 minutes. I applied the bake to two stainless 700s last march. I hang them vertically in the tank for the heating process.
Dura Bake in my opinion is the best stuff out there. It is super hard, durable and beats the lubricants KG and Teflon. It is very easy to apply, thats why I bought the stuff, even I can put it on. The Dura Coat can be baked as well, but you can also let it stand for curing over a couple of weeks.
Maybe Spike will take some pics and show them here on 24 when he comes over to apply his Dura Bake. The only draw back I can see with Dura Bake is covering your rails, you lose some slickness at first, then things seem to wear in.

Personally, I'd be thrilled if Nosler were to release a bullet in .303. They're the only major American bullet company who don't make a .303. Hornady, Sierra and Speer all make them, but none are "premium" like the Partition or the Accubond.

A 174-grain Accubond would be the ultimate .303 bullet, in my opinon, and it would warm the hearts of .303 shooters the world over.

The reason I yearn for the 174-grain Accubond is two-fold:

1. Most users of this bullet would be shooting the .303 British cartridge out of old military Enfields. For more than four decades, the standard military load was a 174-grain pointed boattail bullet at about 2,450 feet-per-second. This load won two world wars. It even worked well in competitive shooting and sniping. The sights of Lee-Enfields and P-14s are regulated for this load, the barrels are twisted and dimensioned for it, and there is a wealth of knowledge regarding it's loading and ballistics. With a pedigree like that, how could Nosler lose if it introduced an Accubond so dimensioned?

2. Personal reasons. I have built a wildcat ".303 Winchester Magnum", formed by simply running a .300 Winchester Magnum reamer into a P-14. It can be loaded like a conventional .300 Winchester Magnum, but with the substitution of .303 bullets for .30s. As it is, I can get 5-shot groups averaging about 1.5 inches at 200 metres using Hornady 150s pushed by 71 grains of N160 out of this rifle. Once can only dream what I could achieve from an ultra-accurate, premium bullet like a 174-grain Accubond at 3,000 feet-per-second...

This said, I'd certainly not turn up my nose at a 150-grain Partition in .303. That would easily be a (close) second choice.
