Back in 1970 I bought my first .22 rifle, a Winchester Model 250 Lever action that shot shorts, longs & long rifle ammunition. The Model 250 was a hammerless style that resembled the old Winchester 88 rifle. It was lots of fun to shoot. I owned that .22 for 21 years, I regret ever selling it.

Mine was a Winnie 290 with a 4X scope, both cost me $60.00. Unfortunately, this was in Winchester's "Cheapo" period, and the gun was poorly fitted, with stamped checkering. But I got a deal on Stingers (a buck a box for four CASES) and managed to beat the rifle to death with them over the next two years. But where I lived back then, there was a dump at the bottom of a hill, where someone had dumped a few dozen old chipped porcelain toilets. By the time I moved, the toilets were gone, and the chips were five inches deep! PJ

My first .22 was a Marlin M39 (not 39A) lever made in 1927 IIRC, and I still have it.

In the mid to late seventies I bought a Winchester 94m. That is a 22 magnum. I still have it and it is my favorite gun. Next is a rem nylon 66. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

For my 12th B-day (1969) my dad took me to the "Hall of Horns" gun shop in the Bay Area of CA to pick out my first single shot 22. I fell in love with Ithica M49 right away (just like the cowboy guns on TV!). a year later my family moved to rural Maine and I put it to good use popping red squirrels on the farm (chopped their tails off and hung 'em on the bedroom wall). Re-aquired that gun about a year ago. Glad to have it back.

Remington 512 bolt action tube magazine. Originally came with a Weaver B-4 scope. Later had a 3/4" Redfield big game scope.
Shot great. Received Christmas 1965, stolen January 1985. The Win. M52 (original) and Browning T-bolts are never going to completely replace that $29.00 Remington.

my first .22 was bought about 1994. i was six then an had to work up 80 dollars. I did all kinds of worthless things moving a pile of rocks from one spot to another. only to move them back the next day. i did get a break though when grad-pa stepped in an gave me a hand by paying 10 bucks per gun for me to clean (there were all ready clean) that didnt go over well with mom anyways. its a 94/22 and it will never be sold

I shot Remington 40-XB target rifles on a JROTC rifle team in High School. That was in time when it was accepted that proper instruction in marksmanship and safety was good for students. I moved on to bigger hunting rifles and finally returned to the joy of the rimfire. I have a Marlin 39AS and love it.

My grandfather gave me my first .22 the day i was born. Dont remember alot about that day. But the gun is a sweet little semi auto. Winchester model 63. now I think Rossi or taurus is remaking it. Not as accurate as my old cheap sears bolt action...but fun to shoot.

My first was a model 270, 22 rf Winchester pump. It would hang up once in awhile. It was purchased around 1974 at Simmons in Olathe, Kansas. The original Hyer Boot Company was right near there on the other side of the interstate.
