I loaded 30 grains of TB behind a 400 gr cast bullet.Outstanding! It shot less than 1" at fifty and about 1.5 tp 2" at 100yards.This was only 2" higher than my hunting load of 400gr jacketed bullets at 2100.My chrony had a dead battery,so we load back up and try again.A ball to shoot for the beast!!
This load gives the Ruger #1 a new way of killin stuff....

Hey Rifle,
How about a little more info on that cast bullet? I am curious as to what mould your used and what diameter you sized it to. I too have one of these 450/400 Rugers. I haven't yet started casting for it due to the dearth of available moulds. I would greatly appreciate any info you might share.

I used a Lyman,400gr,sized to .410 and lubed with SPG.The first batch was cast from WW and a little Tin.The next batches will have some harder and some pure lead.I ordered the mold from Cabelas. The rifle cleaned up well,no leading. The powder burned very well. With a case this size,I used Fed 215 primers for a good light up.Also,I will load up to 32 grains and Chory.I have not be able to get Hornady brass yet,so I am using BELL from my old double rifle.CH die set used as well.
If you don't find the mold, let me know and I'll get the number.

Is it true that Trail Boss looks like little Krispy Kreme donuts? I've been reading about it with some interest.

In Michigan we only have Tim Horton donuts, yes that is what they look like. They are a real case filler. It's easy to use, find your cases 100% load and your max load will be 70%,do NOT compress and do not add any filler.I have also used it for sub-sonic loads in 7.62x39 and 8x57 and .308.

It works great in plinking loads for my 45-70. 300 gr. Lazercast over 16.5 gr. of Trail Boss makes for a sweet shooting can-bouncer.

Well,TB does have a sweet spot and I guess I went past it.Groups opened to 3" at 100 yards and velocity slowed down 125fps. Don't compress this powder!!! I am going to try 5744 next...
